Your work will cover the full development cycle: requirements, concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, inspection, assembly, testing, installation and commissioning. You will translate demanding functional and dimensional requirements into robust, repeatable and manufacturable designs. Your core focus will be precision mechanical engineering, with particular value placed on experience developing molds, dies, tooling and other tight-tolerance manufactured devices. ## Your responsibilities - Design precision mechanical devices, machines, mechanisms, tooling, molds, fixtures, positioning assemblies and alignment equipment, from initial concepts through detailed, production-ready designs. - Define critical dimensions, datum strategies, fits, tolerance stacks, surface finishes, material choices, stiffness and thermal stability requirements; evaluate mechanical interfaces, assembly sequences, serviceability and production repeatability. - Produce and release complete engineering packages: 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, GD&T, bills of materials, inspection requirements and technical specifications; conduct design reviews and apply DFM/DFA principles. - Own the technical manufacturing interface from prototype to finished parts: select suitable processes such as CNC milling and turning, grinding, EDM, precision finishing and heat treatment; work with suppliers on feasibility, quotations, fabrication, first-article inspection and nonconformities. - Plan and support precision fitting, assembly, adjustment and alignment; verify dimensions and functional performance, resolve build issues, and lead or support installation, acceptance testing, commissioning and technical handover. - Install, integrate and commission cooling-water circuits for precision machinery and experimental equipment, including piping, hoses, fittings, valves, manifolds and leak/pressure testing. ## What you bring - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline. - Demonstrated experience designing precision machinery, manufactured devices, complex mechanisms or tooling, with accountability for producing drawings and delivering functional hardware. - Deep understanding of precision manufacturing, machining and tooling methods, material behavior, fits, GD&T, surface finishes, tolerance chains and dimensional verification. - Strong CAD and drawing capability, including manufacturing-ready documentation, BOMs, tolerance analysis and clear technical communication with machinists, toolmakers, metrology teams and suppliers. - Hands-on experience across the complete hardware development cycle, including prototypes, supplier follow-up, inspection, precision assembly, functional testing and commissioning. - Practical experience installing cooling circuits and working knowledge of piping systems, fluid components and instrumentation, including flow, pressure and temperature sensors. What sets you apart - Previous experience in mold design and manufacturing, injection molds, forming dies, precision toolmaking or comparable tight-tolerance machinery is strongly preferred. - Experience with precision positioning mechanisms, custom machines, scientific instrumentation, optomechanical devices or automated precision assemblies. - Experience specifying and interpreting CMM reports, geometric tolerances, surface roughness measurements, inspection plans and precision assembly or alignment procedures. - Proven ability to work directly with machine shops and toolmakers, resolve manufacturing deviations, optimize parts for production, and lead build-to-test iterations. - Strong ownership, practical problem-solving skills and a design-for-manufacture mindset, with the ability to turn complex designs into reliable, accurately manufactured and assembled devices. - Experience selecting, integrating and troubleshooting fluid sensors, flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature sensors and associated piping hardware in laboratory or industrial cooling systems. ## What we offer Our mission is motivation enough for many. But we also support our team with benefits that foster wellbeing and growth: - Public Transport Subsidy - Employee Incentive Program - Phone Bill Reimbursement - Wellpass or Complimentary Private Health Insurance - Professional Learning & Development Budget - Relocation Support - Company Pension Plan - 30 Days of Vacation plus additional half day on 24. & 31.Dec. - Modern Office in the center of Munich - Healthy office snacks - Regular Team Events For more information on how we process your application data, please review our [privacy notice](https://www.marvelfusion.com/applicants). ## About Marvel Fusion ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Electric Power Generation / Fusion Energy - **Target customers**: B2B – utilities, grid operators, and industrial energy consumers - **Mission**: “Enable humankind to access clean, safe & reliable energy by developing a laser-driven fusion power plant” ## Products & Services - **Laser-Driven Fusion Power Plant**: An advanced inertial fusion energy concept combining a proprietary fast ignitor with innovations in laser technology, target design, and energy extraction. The approach builds on the validated physics demonstrated at the National Ignition Facility in 2022 and aims to eliminate the need for tritium through alternative fuel cycles. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding exceeds **USD 400 million** (public + private) per the company website; LinkedIn reports **USD 187.2 million** in tracked funding rounds – the difference likely reflects additional public grants and undisclosed investments. - **Notable Investors/Partners**: EQT Ventures, Siemens Energy, European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, Tengelmann Ventures, and a network of leading industrial suppliers. - **Growth Signals**: - Headcount of **81 employees** (42.9% YoY growth) - Inauguration of new experimental chamber “LION 2” at CALA in Garching, Munich (July 2025) - Awarded U.S. DOE grant to advance laser fusion (September 2025) - Public-private partnership with Colorado State University and infrastructure program in Fort Collins, Colorado - Selected for EIC STEP Scale Up Program with potential investment up to EUR 30 million ## Competitive Advantages - **Validated physics**: Approach is based on the fusion ignition gain demonstrated at the National Ignition Facility (2022), reducing technical risk. - **Proprietary fast ignitor concept** that could lower costs and increase efficiency compared to other inertial fusion designs. - **Alternative fuel cycles**: Potential to operate without tritium, simplifying fuel supply and waste management. - **Strong industrial partnerships**: Strategic collaboration with Siemens Energy and deep ties to European and U.S. supply chains. ## Strategic Focus - Scaling laser-driven fusion toward commercial deployment by advancing laser optics (FusioTile project), target manufacturing, and power plant engineering. - Expanding U.S. operations: appointment of Puja Gupta as EVP to lead U.S. activities and a major infrastructure hub in Fort Collins, Colorado. - Securing additional public and private funding to bridge from demonstration to pilot plant. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Values include ownership, empowerment, clarity & trust, diversity of thought, and collaboration.
