Today, robotics is fragmented, slow, and closed: most builders are forced to reinvent the same stack again and again, and most ideas never make it past the prototype stage. We exist to change that. Our mission is to democratize robotics by lowering the barrier to entry, delivering a plug-and-play platform for developers, researchers, and enterprises, and cultivating an open ecosystem that accelerates the evolution of physical AI. If you want to help shape the next layer of human capability — and believe the future of robotics should be built together, not in isolation — we'd love to build it with you. ## The Role Help customers get the most from Dexmate robots and keep our deployed fleet running reliably. As a Robotics Field Engineer, you will own technical issues from initial diagnosis through repair and customer follow-up, working directly at customer sites and closely with our engineering teams. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems in real-world environments. You will install and commission robots, troubleshoot unfamiliar failures, and turn field experience into improvements in hardware design, service procedures, and customer support. ## Responsibilities - Install, commission, and validate robots at customer sites, ensuring each deployment meets specifications before handoff. - Serve as a primary technical responder for customer-reported hardware issues. Independently diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, power supplies, sensors, and controllers, and mechanical systems, including actuators, motors, gearboxes, and joints. - Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections across the fleet of more than 200 deployed units, tracking wear patterns and addressing issues before they cause downtime. - Maintain detailed repair logs, failure analyses, and maintenance records in tools such as Linear and Notion. Develop field runbooks and troubleshooting guides as the fleet grows. - Partner with hardware engineering to address recurring failure modes, improve repairability, and inform component standardization decisions. - Communicate clearly and professionally with customers about technical issues, repair progress, and resolutions. - Train customers on robot operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - Follow field safety protocols and company standards, identify hazards, and drive corrective actions. ## Minimum Qualifications - 3+ years of hands-on field service or technician experience with robotics, industrial automation, medical devices, heavy equipment, or similarly complex electromechanical systems. - A demonstrated ability to own field visits independently: diagnose unfamiliar failures, exercise sound technical judgment, and follow through with customers. - Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, wiring diagrams, and schematics. - Practical experience diagnosing actuators, motors, gearboxes, and bearings, along with issues involving firmware, control software, and access controls. - Willingness to travel frequently and adapt to different customer environments and schedules. - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on field experience. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent Dexmate professionally, including during time-sensitive customer issues. - A strong sense of ownership and comfort making progress when information or processes are incomplete. ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience with legged or humanoid robots, or other complex multi-actuator systems. - Experience mentoring technicians or guiding others through troubleshooting. - Relevant electrical, mechanical, or robotics certifications. - Experience helping build support processes at an early-stage hardware company. - Familiarity with fleet management and monitoring tools. ## About Dexmate ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Dexmate builds general-purpose robots with manipulation capabilities, integrating custom hardware with AI models for robotic operation. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed Stage) - **Headquarters**: Santa Clara, California, United States - **Founded**: 2024 - **Founders**: Tao Chen (Co-Founder, CEO), Yuzhe Qin (Co-Founder, CTO), Chongyang Wang (Co-Founder) ## Core Business - Primary industry/industries: Robotics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Automation - Target customers: B2B (enterprise, logistics, manufacturing, and research organizations) - Mission or purpose statement: "Building tomorrow's intelligence and automation." ## Products & Services - **[Vega]**: A general-purpose mobile robot with high-payload arms, dexterous hands, a foldable torso, and an omnidirectional base.
