As we plug in more devices and services, we need new ways to connect to power. The traditional, one-size-fits-all utility approach, with complicated bills and frustrating customer service, no longer works. At Light, we make it easy to get affordable, renewable electricity by embedding power with the products that consumers already use, from the companies they love. Light's mission is to power a sustainable and abundant energy future for everyone. We do it by making any company able to sell electricity. With Light's utility-as-API platform, companies from automakers and solar providers to real estate and beyond can offer their own, integrated electricity plans. Imagine purchasing an electric vehicle that includes unlimited home charging, or solar panels that come bundled with any excess energy you might need from the grid. We're building the flexible future where clean energy shows up wherever customers already are. We're a Series A company based in Austin, TX. We've found meaningful traction and are now investing aggressively in growth. Join us in building the digital energy infrastructure for the next century of power. ## THE ROLE Your mission is to generate the pipeline that the rest of Light's go-to-market team runs on. You'll work alongside our founding SDR and directly with the founders and early sales team to build how Light finds and engages new partners. You'll research target verticals, build the account lists, identify the people inside those companies who own a partnership decision, and run the outbound that turns a cold company into a first meeting. This is not a typical outbound motion. You're not asking a company to spend budget, you're showing them how to offer electricity to customers they already have and earn revenue doing it. Many of the people you contact will not have considered electricity part of their business before, which makes the quality of your targeting and your writing matter far more than the volume behind it. You'll partner closely with sellers, Marketing, and the founders to sharpen what we say to each vertical and who we say it to, and you'll help build the motion itself by turning what works into personas, messaging, and sequences the rest of the team can run. This is an early seat on a growing GTM team, with direct exposure to founders and sellers who are still closing deals themselves, and a clear path into a closing role for the person who helps build the engine. IN YOUR FIRST SIX MONTHS, YOU WILL: - Own outbound into a set of target accounts. Research the vertical, build the account list with the reasoning behind it, and run outreach across email, LinkedIn, and phone. - Reach the people who own the decision. Identify the stakeholders inside a prospective partner who actually own a partnership like this, which is rarely the first title that matches. - Book meetings the team can run with. Qualify opportunities and hand them over with the context a seller needs to be effective in the first conversation. - Bring discipline to inbound. Define what has to be true before an inbound request becomes a meeting, and hold that line. - Own your numbers. Track your funnel step by step, know which step is the constraint each month, and adjust the approach rather than the volume. - Help create Light's outbound playbook. Turn what works into personas by vertical, messaging, and sequence structure that the next person can run. ## YOU WOULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS: - A high-performing SDR or BDR with a track record of carrying a meetings or pipeline number and hitting it. - Persistent and resourceful, with the creativity to reach people who are hard to reach and the discipline to keep going after the obvious channels stop working. - A strong writer who has built their own outreach rather than running someone else's sequences, and who can explain the reasoning behind what they send. - Analytical about your own funnel, able to diagnose which step is underperforming and change something deliberately in response. - Comfortable in front of senior people, able to hold a credible conversation with someone more experienced and better informed than you. - Genuinely curious about the product and the market, more interested in how a partner makes money than in memorizing a pitch. - Fluent with modern sales tooling and AI, using it to create leverage while knowing where its output is not good enough to send. - Early in your career and based in Austin, with 1+ years of SDR or BDR experience and the ability to work five days per week in-office. ## About Light ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Energy Technology (Retail Electricity Provider & Virtual Power Plant platform) - **Target customers**: B2B2C – solar providers, automakers, home platforms, and other brands that want to offer electricity plans to their own customers in deregulated energy markets. - **Mission**: “Rebuilding the power grid for a fully renewable future” and “power a sustainable and abundant energy future for everyone.” ## Products & Services - **Embedded Electricity Platform**: A full-stack platform that lets partners launch their own branded electricity plans with no-code (same-day), embeddable UI components (week-long), or a REST API (fully custom). Light acts as the licensed Retail Electricity Provider (REP) and Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE), managing risk, compliance, payments, and customer support. - **Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)**: Aggregates distributed energy resources (batteries, EVs, smart HVAC) to capture value from time-spread trading, offering partners either a fixed revenue model or a revenue share. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total funding amount not disclosed; backed by notable climate and tech investors. - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Investors include Henrik Langeland (Founder/CEO of Arcadia), Kiran Bhatraju (CEO of Copper), Sam Calisch (Founder/CEO of Enode), Jean-Denis Greze (CTO of Plaid, former), Albert Lee (COO of Affirm, former), Huey Lin (CMO of OPower, CEO of Dandelion, former), Calvin French Owen (Founder/CTO of Segment, former), Michael Sachse, Tyler Moragne, and others. Partners include 2 of the top 5 automakers and 300k+ rental units. - **Growth Signals**: 26 employees, 6.9% monthly headcount growth, 10 active job postings. Currently operating in Texas (largest retail electricity market in the US) with planned expansion to Northeast and Midwest. Claims over 30% customer enrollment rate among partner customers. ## Competitive Advantages - **Embedded platform approach**: Partners keep their brand front-and-center while Light handles all energy-specific complexity (licensing, grid scheduling, billing, compliance). - **Multiple integration paths**: From no-code to full API, enabling rapid launch and deep customization. - **VPP monetization**: Unique ability to turn customers’ devices into revenue streams without requiring partners to become energy experts. - **Licensed infrastructure**: Holds both a REP license and a QSE license in Texas, giving direct access to the ERCOT market. ## Strategic Focus - Geographic expansion: currently in Texas, planning to enter New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois. - Deepening partner integrations (especially with EV and solar companies) to drive enrollment and device monetization. - Scaling the platform to handle more device types and grid services. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Described as ambitious yet humble, with no micromanagement or hustle culture. Team collaborates in person in downtown Austin. - **Impact**: Employees ship fast and work on “critical planet infrastructure” from day one. - **Benefits**: Covers essential health insurance plus One Medical membership; mental health and family-building resources; on-site gym; eco-commute credits; freedom to work from anywhere in July. - **Work policy**: In-person in Austin (tight feedback loops and shared context are valued). ## Sources 1.
