## ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the backend systems that power the Made Card and homeowner platform. You’ll work across the full lifecycle of backend development - from gathering requirements and designing architecture to implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance. This is a role for someone who thrives in building distributed systems, mentoring others, and ensuring reliability at scale in a fast-moving startup environment.

## WHAT YOU’LL DO

- System Design & Development: Design and implement scalable backend endpoints and distributed systems using Python.
- Database Modeling: Build and optimize data models across Postgres, DynamoDB, and Redis.
- Architecture & APIs: Define and deliver APIs and backend services that support mobile (Flutter) and web (React/Next.js) applications.
- Infrastructure: Work with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS to ensure reliable deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
- Feature Delivery: Own the full software lifecycle - requirements, design, development, QA, deployment, and maintenance.
- Performance & Reliability: Ensure backend services are performant, secure, and highly available.
- Collaboration: Partner with product, frontend, and design teams to deliver end-to-end features.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to raising the engineering bar.

## IDEAL BACKGROUND

- 5–8+ years of backend engineering experience, including senior-level responsibilities.
- Strong proficiency in Python with experience building distributed applications.
- Expertise in database modeling and experience with Postgres, DynamoDB, and Redis.
- Solid understanding of RESTful services and API design.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS for infrastructure and deployment.
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, best practices).
- Track record of delivering high-quality, well-structured, performant code.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
