We are scaling quickly, and the volume of legal work is scaling with it: more commercial deals, more reseller and vendor relationships, more questions from Sales and People teams that need a precise, timely answer. Our customers are schools, universities, and public education bodies running formal procurement and due-diligence processes, so privacy, corporate governance, and data handling carry as much weight as contract turnaround. Commercial contract work is the foundation of this role and needs to be strong from day one. Many of our customers are government and public institutions ranging across EMEA, APAC and US rather than private companies. I am looking for someone already further along the generalist path: strong in commercial work, and already capable in employment, compliance, and corporate governance matters. This person will be the primary legal voice for the company, with direct access to me and real input into how we set policy. Legal operations here are still taking shape. This person will own how they continue to develop, setting priorities and building process alongside live matter work. This role suits a legal professional who wants full ownership of a scale-up's legal function, from a reseller clause to a board resolution. What you'll do: - Draft, review, and negotiate customer, vendor, and reseller contracts end to end, frequently under legal systems and strict requirements encountered for the first time - Own DPA and SLA guidance for customer and partner agreements - Handle employment matters such as non-competes, terminations, and contractor agreements - Support our compliance officer on work across GDPR and privacy , accessibility, AI regulation, and other EdTech-relevant requirements as they arise - Support corporate governance: board resolutions, entity management, equity matters, signatures, and powers of attorney - Manage relationships with external counsel where specialist input is required - Own and improve legal operations: intake, SOPs, contract tooling, and adoption across the organization - Monitor and triage the Legal inbox, including notices requiring same-day response What you bring: - Deep expertise in commercial, vendor, and reseller contract work, with demonstrated experience broadening into employment, compliance, or corporate governance matters - 8+ years of legal practice, including a substantial period in-house as generalist counsel. Relevant experience is weighted more heavily than years alone - Experience negotiating contracts under unfamiliar legal systems. Working knowledge of Dutch employment law and GDPR is beneficial but not required - Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skill, with the ability to move deals forward while identifying and managing risk the business may not see - Proactive risk identification, with sound judgment on which risks warrant escalation - Demonstrated comfort operating independently, including on questions without established precedent - Bar qualification (Dutch or otherwise) is not required, though it is an asset - Available 32-40 hours per week (4-5 days), with flexibility to accommodate a global sales team across time zones What you get: - Gross yearly salary between €83.000 and €90.000 (incl. 8% holiday allowance) - 25 paid holidays per year - A day off for your birthday - Advantageous pension scheme - 3 days of volunteering leave per year - €550 Learning & Development budget per year + 3 days paid leave for learning - Travel allowance and Swapfiets subscription - Free access to our office gym - Unlimited access to mental health support via OpenUp (EU, US, and AUS) ## About FeedbackFruits ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: FeedbackFruits provides a unified Learning Design System that helps higher education institutions design, deliver, and scale evidence-based learning activities integrated into their LMS, using AI to reduce faculty workload and improve student outcomes. - **Entity Type**: Private (Privately Held; prior funding round exists, but Series/stage not publicly disclosed) - **Headquarters**: Amsterdam, Netherlands - **Founded**: 2012 - **Founders**: Ewoud de Kok (Founder & CEO) ## Core Business - **Primary Industry**: E-Learning / Educational Technology (Higher Education) - **Target Customers**: B2B – Higher education institutions (universities, colleges, and professional schools) - **Mission**: “Empower higher education institutions to deliver effective teaching methods that cultivate positive change-makers” and “radically improve education for students worldwide” [feedbackfruits.com/careers](https://feedbackfruits.com/careers) ## Products & Services - **FeedbackFruits Learning Design System**: A SaaS platform integrated with major LMSs (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) that offers ready-to-use templates, modular learning designs, and advanced analytics for evidence-based pedagogy. - **Acai AI Companion**: An ethical, transparent AI assistant that provides real-time feedback to students, supports active learning, and reduces faculty time spent on manual assessment. - **Analytics & Dashboards**: Visual dashboards and real-time analytics to help educators monitor student engagement, performance, and assessment quality at individual and institutional levels. ## Market Standing - **Valuation / Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed - **Key Metric**: - **Funding**: At least one prior funding round (amount undisclosed) - **Users**: Over 200,000 users across 200+ institutions in 28 countries [feedbackfruits.com/about-us](https://feedbackfruits.com/about-us) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Not publicly named in available sources; partnerships include 200+ institutions worldwide - **Growth Signals**: - Headcount of 89 employees (as of mid-2026), operating from 10+ countries (Netherlands, US, Chile, Japan, Spain, UK, etc.) - Global presence spanning Europe, North America, APAC, LATAM, and Africa - Year-over-year employee growth declined slightly (-11.2%), but the company continues to hire actively (3 open positions listed) [linkedin.com/company/feedbackfruits](https://ca.linkedin.com/company/feedbackfruits) ## Competitive Advantages - **Integrated LMS approach**: Designed to work natively within existing institutional systems, reducing friction for educators. - **AI built on ethical principles**: Acai provides transparent, privacy-preserving AI assistance, differentiating from less ethical competitors. - **Pedagogical focus**: Offers thousands of research-backed learning designs, helping institutions scale active learning without sacrificing quality. - **Security & compliance**: Industry-recognised certifications (e.g., ISO, SOC 2) built in from the start. ## Strategic Focus - Scaling high-quality learning design across entire institutions (not just individual courses) - Expanding the use of AI to further reduce faculty workload while improving student outcomes - Deepening integration with LMS platforms and expanding template/library resources for global adoption - Growing the partner ecosystem and entering new geographies (APAC, LATAM) ## Why Work Here - **Culture & Values**: Cultivates a culture of ambition, humanity, pragmatism, and curiosity.
