Appian Customer Success is obsessed with delivering exceptional customer outcomes and high-velocity business impact. Our Public Sector team acts as a trusted strategic partner to government agencies and organizations, bringing their most vital ideas to life. By joining this high-performing team, you will strengthen and evolve your technical consulting skills while accelerating the adoption of our AI-Powered Process Automation platform across critical public infrastructure.

As a Senior Consultant, you will step into a pivotal leadership role at the intersection of public sector strategy and modern technical innovation. This is your opportunity to move beyond isolated coding tasks and own the end-to-end delivery of highly visible, complex enterprise systems. You will lead small engineering teams, architect robust integrations, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders - enabling enterprise organizations to achieve true Enterprise-Grade Orchestration.

## What You’ll Do

- Passion for mentoring/developing others and experience leading small teams through post-sale software implementation
- Ability to work with clients to define business processes and gather functional and technical system requirements
- Excellent communication skills, passion for technology and continuous learning, and affinity for asking “why” and solving the right problems
- History of success on cross-functional teams; experience building products using agile methodologies (pair programming, stand-ups, planning sessions, and sprints)
- Basic understanding of object oriented programming, experience working with relational databases and database design/data modeling, and SQL skills (writing queries, joins, views, etc)
- Knowledge of software testing practices (test-driven development, automated test suites within a continuous integration framework); integrations experience using APIs such as REST and SOAP, JDBC connections, and web services; familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Analytics, Machine Learning, Google Cloud, Application Integration, Database, Developer Tools, Management & Governance, and Elastic Containers (preferred)

## Basic qualifications

- You have 7+ years of overall IT experience with 5+ years of hands-on Appian technical experience.
- B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field/degree
- Willingness to travel; 20% to support customer engagement

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with modern cloud frameworks and infrastructure, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, or Elastic Containers.
- Knowledge of software testing practices (Test-Driven Development, automated test suites) and modern AI/Machine Learning applications.
