We process payments, power marketplaces, disburse payroll and loans, provide KYC solutions, prevent fraud, and help businesses grow exponentially. We serve our customers by providing a suite of world-class APIs, eCommerce platform integrations, and easy to use applications for individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, and enterprises alike. Our main focus is building the most advanced payment rails for Southeast Asia, with a clear goal in mind — to make payments across and within SEA simple, secure and easy for everyone. We serve thousands of businesses ranging from SMEs to multinational enterprises, and process millions of transactions monthly. We’ve been growing rapidly since our inception in 2015, onboarding hundreds of new customers every month, and [backed by global top-10 VCs](https://techcrunch.com/2021/03/02/indonesia-payments-infra-startup-xendit-raises-64-6m/). We’re proud to be featured on among the fastest growing companies by [Y-Combinator](https://www.ycombinator.com/topcompanies). ## Why this role exists The merchant lifecycle: onboarding, activation, and lifecycle across many surfaces, where consistency and reusability matter as much as any single flow. This role does double duty: raise the craft on the merchant lifecycle experience, and own the design system that keeps that experience coherent as the domain scales. You are the person who both designs the hard flow and builds the pattern that keeps the next ten from drifting. ## What you'll own - Product design in the Operational Journey cluster: onboarding, dashboard, and KYC-heavy lifecycle flow, reconciling clarity with compliance requirements. - Design system consolidation (your first mission): take the existing design system, analyze and diagnose it, consolidate and document it properly, and establish tokens and patterns the whole team can build on. - Design standards across the domain: you set the quality bar and guide design decisions in areas without a dedicated designer yet, including the developer-experience surface, through standards and critique, not by producing every screen. - Mentorship: you raise the craft of other designers on the team when needed. ## How you will work You report to the Product Design & UX Director for Customer Lifecycle. You are the senior design owner in the domain at the outset, setting standards, shipping craft, and building the system others rely on. Your time splits between product work and system consolidation, weighted toward the system early while the foundation is built, then rebalancing toward product. The domain works from validated findings rather than assumptions and values direct, candid critique. ## What we're looking for In priority order: - Product design craft, first and foremost. An excellent product designer with a portfolio that shows depth, complex flows made genuinely simple, decisions grounded in user problems rather than decoration. This is the primary bar. - Systems thinking you can demonstrate. You have built reusable components, tokens, and patterns with rigor, thinking about consistency, versioning, and how others will use what you make. You need not have single-handedly rebuilt a legacy system, but you should show the instinct and the mechanics. - Fluency with the discipline of disclosure. In regulated products, design is often the instrument of compliance, communicating required information so users genuinely understand it. Experience with this kind of high-stakes clarity is a strong signal. A strong plus: consolidating or migrating an existing design system; fintech or payments product design; front-end literacy; a track record of mentoring designers up. ## About Xendit ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Xendit is a financial technology company that provides payment infrastructure and processing solutions for businesses operating in and expanding across Southeast Asia. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series D funding, Unicorn status achieved in 2021) - **Headquarters**: Jakarta, Indonesia - **Founded**: 2015 - **Founders**: Moses Lo, Tessa Wijaya, Bo Chen, Juan Gonzalez ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Financial Technology (Fintech), Payment Processing, Digital Infrastructure - **Target customers**: B2B — serving enterprises, global businesses expanding into Southeast Asia, startups, SMEs, e-commerce platforms, and marketplaces. - **Mission or purpose statement**: To make payments simple, helping businesses focus on growth and creating lasting value. ## Products & Services - **Accepting Payments**: A payment gateway that allows businesses to accept payments via over 100 popular methods, including credit cards, virtual accounts, bank transfers, e-wallets, and QRIS across Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong. - **Payout API**: An API for sending bulk payouts instantly to 450+ banks and e-wallets, including on weekends and public holidays. - **Recurring Payments**: Automated subscription management for credit cards, e-wallets, and direct debit. - **Platform Payments**: Solutions for platforms and marketplaces to onboard sub-merchants, split funds, and manage payouts. - **Financing**: Quick financing options for businesses to fund regional expansion. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Achieved Unicorn status (valuation >$1B) in 2021 after raising $150M in Series C. - **Key Metric**: Total funding of $538M (including a $300M Series D round in 2022).
