## Job description

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but most providers don't accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway’s mission is to fix this by building a new mental healthcare system everyone can access. We started by solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. The admin work - credentialing, claims, payment reconciliation - is a nightmare. We've automated that.

But we're going further. Over 90,000 providers across all 50 states run their practice on our software, serving over 2.6 million patients. We are building the best tools for therapists to run their entire practice, reimagining the experience of finding a therapist, and investing in the platform foundations to enable this at scale, and building much of it with AI. ## About the Team & Role

Headway's Patient Growth Marketing team helps people find the right therapist and get care they can afford. We're hiring a senior, AI-native Senior Digital Marketing Channel Manager to own SEO and AEO (generative engine optimization), making sure that whether someone searches Google or asks an AI assistant for help finding therapy, Headway is the answer. You'll own the channel end to end as a hands-on IC, partner closely with the Growth PM who owns technical SEO/AEO, and use AI and AI agents to deliver the impact of a much larger team.

You Will

- Own Headway's SEO and AEO strategy and roadmap for patient acquisition, from opportunity sizing to execution to results
- Make Headway the brand AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) recommend and cite for therapy-related questions, and build the tracking to prove it
- Build and scale long-tail and programmatic content that ranks, converts, and is clinically accurate
- Lead link building, digital PR, and partnerships to grow Headway's authority and third-party mentions
- Partner with the Growth PM and engineering on technical priorities: site architecture, internal linking, structured data, indexation, page experience, and AI-crawler access
- Design and run AI workflows and agents for research, content production, outreach, and monitoring
- Run fast experiments, report on channel performance, and share what you learn with the broader growth team

You’d be a great fit if…

- You have 8+ years of SEO experience with a record of growing organic acquisition, and recent, hands-on wins in AEO
- You can explain how AEO differs from SEO and already have ideas for how to win AI search in a competitive category
- You want to be a hands-on IC and channel owner, and you'd rather build with AI than build a large team
- You're AI-native: you've built AI processes or agents (on your own or with help) and can show the results
- You're a growth hacker at heart who also nails the fundamentals, especially link building and long-tail content
- You're technical enough to diagnose site issues and set strategy with product and engineering, even if you don't write the code
- Bonus: experience in digital health, telehealth, or another YMYL category
