TransGrid has a robust pipeline of projects under construction and in late-stage development, and the Company is actively expanding its energy asset portfolio across the United States. As an affiliate company of Hanwha Group, a FORTUNE Global 500 company driven by a firm commitment to advancing the clean energy future, TransGrid Energy is striving to shape the renewable energy landscape by providing sustainable and reliable power solutions tailored to meet the energy needs of today and tomorrow. ## POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a Senior Director, Energy Optimization & Orchestration Solutions to lead the development of a next-generation energy optimization platform that combines advanced optimization, agentic AI, power systems, controls, distributed energy resources, and data center operations. The mission of this role is to transform energy infrastructure from a static constraint into a dynamically managed capacity resource. The first major application will focus on grid interactive – flexible data center energy optimization—unlocking additional usable MW from existing power and cooling infrastructure while maintaining reliability, resiliency, and operational safety. As AI infrastructure becomes increasingly power constrained, data centers can no longer manage power, cooling, compute, storage, and grid interaction independently. These systems must be orchestrated as one integrated operating environment. The Senior Director will lead the development of the technology, architecture, and organization required to make that possible. ## RESPONSIBILITIES - Define and lead TransGrid Energy's strategy for energy optimization, orchestration, and intelligent energy management across data centers, distributed energy resources, battery storage, and grid-interactive infrastructure. - Build a next-generation platform that transforms energy infrastructure from a static constraint into a dynamically managed capacity resource, enabling customers to maximize usable compute capacity, infrastructure utilization, resiliency, and economic value. - Lead the development of advanced optimization, forecasting, controls, digital twin, and AI-enabled capabilities that continuously evaluate available electrical, thermal, storage, and grid capacity to improve operational performance. - Create and commercialize scalable software, technology, and service offerings that can be deployed across multiple customer environments rather than delivered as one-off engineering projects. - Establish the architecture and operating framework required to coordinate battery storage, distributed generation, renewable resources, cooling systems, utility interaction, flexible loads, and data center operations as a single integrated system. - Drive the application of AI, automation, and intelligent decision-support technologies to improve energy operations, infrastructure utilization, reliability, and capacity planning. - Partner with engineering, software, controls, operations, product, and commercial teams to develop and deploy market-leading optimization solutions. - Lead integration efforts across SCADA, EMS, DERMS, EPMS, BMS, utility systems, distributed energy resources, and data center infrastructure platforms. - Work directly with customers, utilities, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to identify challenges, validate solutions, and accelerate adoption of new capabilities. - Define product roadmaps, deployment models, success metrics, and commercialization strategies that support long-term platform growth. - Recruit, develop, and lead a multidisciplinary team spanning optimization, power systems, controls, software, AI, product development, and commercial functions. - Serve as a thought leader internally and externally on the evolving convergence of AI infrastructure, data center operations, battery storage, distributed energy resources, and intelligent grid interaction. - Measure success through outcomes such as infrastructure capacity unlocked, compute capacity enabled, customer adoption, operational performance improvements, recurring revenue generation, and overall business value created. - Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. ## REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - 15 or more years of relevant experience in energy technology, power systems, controls, optimization, energy management, infrastructure technology, or a related field. - Significant experience leading multidisciplinary engineering, software, product, or technology teams. - Strong expertise in optimization, controls, power systems, or energy management. - Demonstrated experience applying optimization, forecasting, or automated controls to physical assets and operational systems. - Proven ability to bridge physical infrastructure, software, optimization, AI, and business requirements to create deployable, scalable products. - Experience across several relevant technologies, such as BESS, EMS/DERMS/VPP, microgrids, SCADA/EPMS/BMS, data centers, GPU infrastructure, energy markets, digital twins, cloud or edge software, and agentic AI. - Demonstrated success leading complex solutions from strategy and architecture through development, deployment, customer adoption, and measurable business results. ## WORK AUTHORIZATION The ideal candidate for this role will have authorization to work in the US prior to joining TransGrid Energy LLC. The Company will not sponsor or offer assistance with the sponsorship for work authorization in the United States. ## DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION TransGrid Energy believes that diversity and inclusion are vital to our success. We believe that by embracing different ideas and approaches, we enhance our ability to deliver the best results for our employees, our environment, and ultimately our business partners and customers. We foster a culture where all colleagues are able to share their passions and ideas in order that we may collectively embrace and overcome the challenges in our industry, and work toward a brighter future. TransGrid Energy is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status, age or any other federally protected class. ## About TransGrid Energy ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: TransGrid Energy develops, owns, and operates utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) projects to advance the transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy grid. - **Entity Type**: Private (Subsidiary of Hanwha FutureProof, part of Hanwha Group) - **Headquarters**: Irvine, California, United States - **Founded**: Not publicly available - **Founders**: Not publicly available ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Renewable Energy Power Generation, Utility-Scale Energy Storage, Solar Energy - **Target customers**: Utilities, grid operators, and large-scale energy consumers (B2B, Enterprise) - **Mission or purpose statement**: To shape sustainable energy solutions for a more resilient grid by investing in and operating assets across the USA that drive the shift toward a more sustainable future. ## Products & Services - **Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)**: Development, ownership, and operation of large-scale battery storage projects (e.g., Atlas VIII at 279MW/1,116MWh) that provide grid stability, reliability, and clean energy integration. - **Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Projects**: Development, ownership, and operation of utility-scale solar generation assets (e.g., Silver Peak at 100MW PV). - **Hybrid BESS/PV Projects**: Combined solar and battery storage facilities that deliver reliable, dispatchable clean energy. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (private subsidiary) - **Key Metric**: Total Funding of **$975 million** (as of March 2025), including a $270M round and $705M in debt financing.
