Chestnut St., Ventura, CA 93001 *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from The Trade Desk, Inc. office in Ventura, CA. Job Duties: Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, designers, researchers, and engineering peers to gather requirements, define feature scope, identify risks, prepare software designs and estimates for the work, and determine success criteria for new or updated functionality including defining and measuring KPIs. Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing software features by investigating issues, optimizing performance, and implementing enhancements or corrections as needed. Prepare high-level and detailed technical design documents for new features or system changes, and participate in design reviews with cross-team stakeholders. Develop and maintain front-end and back-end software components using technologies and frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, .NET, GraphQL and SQL. Understand system architecture fundamentals through self-directed learning, including understanding the business objectives behind the code. Validate software quality by applying automated and manual testing methodologies, reviewing test strategies, and ensuring documentation meets engineering standards. Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, implementation, testing, deployment, validation and ongoing support of software features. Diagnose and debug large-scale distributed systems using observability tools such as New Relic, Grafana, or similar platforms, and implement dashboards and alerts to ensure system reliability. Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows using DevOps tools such as GitLab or GitHub Actions. Deploy front-end and back-end applications using cloud and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Vercel, or comparable platforms. Enhance and maintain web-based user interface functionality, including investigating bugs, designing improvements, and implementing changes across database, API, and UI layers. Build and maintain software systems for demand-side advertising platforms, including integrations with brands, agencies, or other programmatic media buyers. Build and maintain software systems integrated with publishers and supply-side platforms, including programmatic auction workflows and supply integrations involving inventory signals, deal parameters, creative requirements, and reporting data. Conduct interviews for junior and senior software engineering candidates, including behavioral questions and technical coding evaluations, as well as assess candidates’ qualifications and participate in hiring discussions with interview panel. Salary: $174,782 - $249,700/year Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have four (4) years of experience with: developing front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and CSS, including experience with at least one modern client-side framework and associated testing tools, including React; and using software development tools and version control systems, including Git. Must have three (3) years of experience with: developing and maintaining complex user interface systems involving multiple components, interactive features, and multi-step user workflows; C# and the .NET framework, developing high-throughput API services supporting both UI functionality and backend system integrations; working with SQL Server, including schema migrations, stored procedures, and managing large-scale systems involving multiple database instances and millions of records; troubleshooting distributed software systems using observability or monitoring tools, including configuring dashboards and alerts; and working within Agile or Scrum development methodologies using project tracking tools, including JIRA. Must have two (2) years of experience with: designing and implementing GraphQL APIs and services; developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using version control and DevOps automation tools including GitLab or GitHub Actions or similar systems, supporting automated builds, testing, and deployment workflows across multiple projects; and deploying software applications using cloud platforms or containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes. ## #LI-DNI In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location.  All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions.
