Job Setting SOVRA is adding a Senior Fullstack Software Developer to its engineering team to support the growth of a complex, rules-driven web application. This is a new headcount addition, created to meet the demands of an expanding product that requires both depth of engineering judgment and a working understanding of how AI-assisted development fits into a mature delivery process. The role sits within an eleven-person team responsible for a legal document authoring platform built on .NET Core in C# with a TypeScript front end. The application manages layered business rules across multiple document templates, and the person in this role contributes across the full stack, from API design and backend logic to front-end implementation and quality assurance collaboration. The work requires a developer who can read AI-generated code critically and take ownership of whether it is correct and appropriate to the problem at hand. Current documentation is in French, and the team operates in French and English; full English and French bilingual proficiency is essential. What will your main responsibilities look like? Backend Development & Architecture - You design, develop, and maintain web application features, microservices, and APIs using .NET Core in C#, with consistent attention to performance, security, and scalability. - You participate in technical analysis, solution design, and deployment, and you contribute to corrective maintenance and the ongoing evolution of the application. - You apply the organization’s security standards—including OWASP and CWE/SANS25 practices—and verify that implemented features meet those standards before release. Frontend Development - You develop front-end features in TypeScript, working within a codebase where the team is actively migrating front-end components to Angular and React. - You navigate a complex set of business rules and logic trees that govern how legal documents are assembled, ensuring that new features integrate cleanly with existing template structures. AI-Assisted Development - You work within a development process where code is generated by AI tooling, applying your engineering judgment to assess whether the output is correct, complete, and appropriate to the problem being solved. - You use AI to generate unit tests that validate the quality and reliability of developed features, and you collaborate with the QA team to develop test scenarios and support test automation. ## Team Collaboration & Standards - You work closely with the product team, development team, and QA to propose technical solutions that meet business needs and hold up under the complexity the application carries. - You document your code in French to support long-term maintenance, knowledge transfer, and the team’s shared understanding of the codebase. - You monitor developments in engineering practices and tooling, and you actively share what you find with the team. What will you bring to this role? - Fullstack development track record — you have software development in a comparable environment, with proven delivery across backend and frontend layers, typically 8+ years of experience - .NET Core and C# proficiency — you have strong, hands-on experience building and maintaining APIs and web applications in .NET Core using C#, and you can reason clearly about performance, scalability, and security decisions in that stack. - Frontend development experience — you have practical experience developing in TypeScript utilizing Angular or React libraries, and you are comfortable working within a front-end codebase that spans both frameworks. - Security and quality standards — you have solid knowledge of OWASP and CWE/SANS25 practices for vulnerability detection and protection, and you apply them as a routine part of development rather than as an afterthought. - SQL database experience — you have worked with SQL databases in a production environment and understand how data modelling choices affect application behavior. - AI-assisted development fluency — you have experience working with AI development agents, and you bring the engineering maturity to evaluate AI-generated code critically - Full French–English bilingualism — you are fully proficient in French and English, both spoken and written - Authorization to work in Canada — we are not able to sponsor work visas or transfers at this time. - Formal education in software development — you hold a college diploma or bachelor’s degree in software development, computer science, or a related field. Candidates with equivalent professional experience are equally encouraged to apply. ## What we look for in applications We review every application individually and assess it on its own merits rather than screening for keywords. The most remarkable applications are specific: - They provide details of your work and read more like a portfolio than a summary of responsibilities. - Describe what you built or delivered, the problem it solved, and the outcome, with numbers wherever you have them. - A technology list alone tells us very little. We want to see what languages, frameworks, or tools you used on your deliverables, where, and in what context. Our interview process Our process is designed to be thorough while respecting your time. Three conversations cover your background, the technical substance of the role, and how you would work with the team. - Screening with Talent Acquisition — your background, the role, and mutual fit. - Technical Interview — your hands-on experience with the stack, your approach to AI-assisted development, and how you reason through engineering problems. - Team Interview — how you would work day to day with the development team, QA, and product. ## Why you should join us SOVRA serves the public sector, and the work carries the weight that comes with that purpose. Every improvement to our platform helps government agencies operate more efficiently and deliver greater value to the communities they serve. We are a company in a period of deliberate growth, and we are looking for professionals who want genuine ownership of their work and a direct hand in building the organization around them. In this role, that ownership is real: your work on SOVRA’s document authoring platform shapes how the team delivers accurate, reliable software to the public sector organizations that depend on it. Our benefits include the following, with full details shared during the hiring process: - Comprehensive health and medical coverage. - Paid time off. - A structured learning and development program. - Paid parental leave. If this role aligns with your experience and ambitions, we encourage you to apply. Thank you for your interest in SOVRA. However, only selected candidates will be contacted. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws.
