We are ShipMonk, and we provide logistics services in order fulfillment. Our main business is in the USA, but our modern platform is built by the Product Development team in Prague. Here at ShipMonk, we process up to 100,000 orders per day in our peak season. Our book of business has more than 1,500 clients which are small and medium e-shops, mostly based in the US. We offer the ShipMonk platform as the solution for the whole process.  It covers everything from stocking the items to shipping the ready packages to all corners of the world! The Opportunity We are currently looking for a Senior (or above) PHP Developer to join our Product Development team in the Czech Republic or Poland. ShipMonk is a leader in e-commerce fulfillment, providing a comprehensive platform for stocking, processing, and shipping orders globally. While our business core is in the USA, our technical foundation is built and scaled by our engineers in Prague. We currently support over 1,500 clients and manage a high-volume environment that processes up to 100,000 orders per day during peak seasons. Our Inbound domain powers the journey of every product entering ShipMonk’s network. Connecting suppliers, merchants, carriers, and warehouse operations in real time. You’ll design systems where speed, accuracy, and visibility are not buzzwords but measurable outcomes. Your code directly influences how fast businesses can sell and how reliably customers receive their orders. We are transitioning from a high-growth scale-up to a mature, domain-driven architecture. The real work here isn't just shipping features; it’s orchestrating a distributed system that communicates with autonomous robots, iOS-based warehouse hardware, and conveyors in real-time. We are looking for engineers who care about race conditions, SQL optimization at the terabyte scale, and designing systems that survive the "Black Friday" surge without manual intervention. The Stack We maintain a highly automated, modern environment. Our main backend application provides a REST-like API for a diverse ecosystem of clients including web applications, autonomous robots, iOS picker devices, and automatic conveyors. - Backend & DB: PHP 8.5, Symfony 7.4, Doctrine ORM 3, and MySQL 8 (terabyte-sized). - Infrastructure: Everything is dockerized for local development and deployed to AWS-hosted Kubernetes via Argo CD multiple times a day. - Workflow & CI/CD: We utilize a monorepo and GitLab CI with a comprehensive suite of checks (PHPStan, PHP_CodeSniffer, PHPUnit, migration check, security scans). We automate our own coding rules through dozens of custom PHPStan rules and sniffs. - Testing & Reliability: We maintain over 15,000 database integration tests with independent datasets. Production is verified through two-round reviews. - Observability: We handle HA, failover, and autoscaling across all services supported by DataDog, Sentry, and Opsgenie. The Impact We don’t manage your hours; we manage outcomes. We value technical excellence paired with a business-oriented mindset. You are expected to: - Engineering for Impact: You understand that code is a tool to solve business problems. You can weigh the trade-offs between technical "perfection" and the practical needs of the business, ensuring your work directly helps ShipMonk grow and stay reliable. - Architectural Ownership: You aren't just a coder; you are a system designer. You will take full responsibility for the technical design and implementation of features that handle high concurrency and mission-critical warehouse logic. - Data-Driven Performance: With a database in the terabyte range, SQL optimization is part of the daily routine. You will focus on building high-availability services where failover and autoscaling are standard requirements. - High Signal, Low Noise: Our culture is built on deep work and asynchronous clarity via Asana. We keep meetings to the absolute minimum so you can focus on high-leverage engineering. - Technical Rigor: You will participate in a strict two-round review process and maintain our high standards for automated documentation. We also contribute back to the community by open-sourcing our best tools (https://github.com/shipmonk-rnd). ShipMonk is a place where your engineering decisions have a visible, immediate impact on how goods move around the world. We are looking for colleagues who are ready to take ownership, challenge the status quo, and build the future of logistics technology with us. If you are looking for a role where technical complexity meets real-world scale, we look forward to hearing from you. Ready to move the physical world with code? [Apply via our recruiter – No Cover Letter Needed, Just your Profile/GitHub] ## About ShipMonk ShipMonk isn't just a 3PL; we're a growth partner for merchants.
