Depending on where the biggest challenges are, you could be working across our Core ai, Apps, Marketplace, or Integrations. This isn't a role where someone hands you a ticket. On Monday you might prototype a new conversation-to-application flow with a designer. By Wednesday you're debugging a tricky inference issue. By Friday it's live and you're watching how users respond. The cycle is short because the team is small and the surface area per person is large. ## What You'll Actually Do - Take product problems end-to-end — from data model to deployed interface — without waiting for someone to scope a lane for you - Prototype fast, ship often, and instrument everything so you know what's working before anyone asks - Push back when something doesn't feel right — UX, architecture, scope — and bring an alternative, not just the objection - Use AI aggressively to move through unfamiliar territory — we build AI tools, and we expect you to use them to build faster than any one person should be able to - Work directly with product and design to shape what gets built, not just how You Might Be a Great Fit If… - You've shipped products where you owned the product decisions, not just the technical ones — and you can point to something real that users loved - You instinctively reach for AI when facing an unfamiliar part of the stack — not because you can't learn it, but because you know the faster path to a working solution - You care as much about how software feels as how it's built — a clunky interaction bothers you the same way a bad abstraction does - Ambiguity doesn't stall you — you create enough structure to move, then stop structuring and ship - You close loops without being prompted — options, not problems - You're energised by small teams where your work reaches real users within days, not quarters Practicalities - Location: Zürich, Switzerland — full-time on-site. We don't offer remote or hybrid arrangements. - Stack: TypeScript across the stack — React, Node.js, SQL/NoSQL. Familiarity matters more than years. ## About Caffeine.ai ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Caffeine.ai is an AI-powered development platform that lets users create and update full-stack applications through natural language chat, built on a self-writing open tech stack. - **Entity Type**: Private (funding stage not publicly disclosed) - **Headquarters**: Redwood City, California, USA (with a second office in Los Angeles and a significant engineering hub in Zurich, Switzerland) - **Founded**: Year not publicly disclosed (emerged as part of the DFINITY ecosystem) - **Founders**: Not publicly disclosed ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: AI-powered software development / No-code / Low-code development platforms - **Target customers**: SMBs and enterprises across operations, finance, sales, and support teams who need internal tools without writing code; also individual builders creating apps and websites - **Mission**: "Create the future internet, one app at a time" — enabling people to build software by describing it, so non-engineers can build, run, and iterate on tools without a traditional engineering team ## Products & Services - **Caffeine Chat-Based App Builder**: The core platform where users chat with AI to create and update applications. Each chat session relates to a specific app being created or modified, with draft/live versioning for production updates. - **Caffeine Ask**: A cross-app querying feature that reads across all apps built on the platform and answers questions in plain language — no dashboards needed. - **Self-Writing Tech Stack**: A proprietary stack built on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) using Motoko, a programming language designed for AI. This provides security guarantees, prevents data loss during updates, and makes apps tamperproof and resilient. - **OpenCloud / Private Cloud Deployment**: Apps can run on Caffeine's public cloud (with TEE privacy protection), on private cloud networks, or on single servers — with clean, exportable code and data to prevent vendor lock-in. - **Deep Web3 Functionality**: Native smart contract interaction, token custody, and DeFi integration capabilities (currently restricted, planned for full unlock in 2026). ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed - **Key Metric**: "Thousands of internal tools built without writing a line of code" (per company marketing) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Not publicly disclosed; the company is closely tied to the DFINITY Foundation and the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) ecosystem - **Growth Signals**: - Expanding from a niche Web3-focused tool to a broader no-code platform targeting ops, finance, sales, and support teams - Maintaining a small, selective team (~33 employees) with deliberate, careful hiring - Planning major 2026 releases: private cloud deployment tools, open-source products, and full Web3 functionality unlock ## Competitive Advantages - **First self-writing tech stack**: Unlike vibe-coding platforms like Lovable and Replit, Caffeine uses a purpose-built stack (Motoko + ICP) designed as a force-multiplier for AI, enabling more sophisticated app construction. - **Anti-vendor-lock-in**: Apps are sovereign and portable — users own their code and data and can run apps anywhere, unlike competitors moving to proprietary cloud platforms. - **Safety guarantees**: Tamperproof apps, resilience to server failure, auto-scaling, and protection against data loss during updates. - **Cross-app intelligence**: The "Ask" feature reads across all apps for unified answers, a differentiator versus single-app tools. - **Deep Web3 integration**: Native smart contract and token capabilities position Caffeine for the AI-agent economy and stablecoin-based payments. ## Strategic Focus - **2026 roadmap**: Unlock full Web3 functionality, release open-source products for private cloud deployment, and expand capabilities for AI-agent integration with blockchain networks (including those operated by Stripe and Google). - **Enterprise expansion**: Moving beyond individual builders to position as an all-in-one platform for internal tooling across business functions. - **Engineering excellence**: Maintaining a small, senior team with end-to-end ownership and short feedback cycles. ## Why Work Here - **Small team, real ownership**: Employees take features from idea to production, with direct influence on product direction. - **Engineering culture**: Emphasis on "beautiful, reliable, performant experiences" and sweating details — not just shipping. - **On-site in Zurich**: The company builds together in person, with quick conversations, tight loops, and shared context. On-site work is the norm. - **Cutting-edge problems**: Work alongside researchers pushing on hard problems in AI, full-stack development, and on-chain applications. - **Compensation & benefits**: Company equity offered, diversity-focused Employee Resource Groups, family medical leave, and healthcare benefits (per Built In). - **Immediate impact**: Short feedback cycles mean what you build reaches real users almost immediately. ## Sources 1.
