As AI writes more of the world's code, the bottleneck in software has shifted from writing code to verifying it works, and AI cannot verify its own work with certainty. Code Metal takes a fundamentally different approach: constrain AI to what it does reliably, verify every step independently of the model using formal methods, and keep engineers in the loop on the decisions that matter. The result isn't code that probably works — it's code that is provably correct, with auditable proof. Customers including the U.S. Air Force, L3Harris, RTX, and Toshiba use Code Metal to modernize legacy code, optimize performance on real hardware, and move prototypes to production, fast. Founded in 2023 with offices in Boston and San Francisco, Code Metal is funded by Accel, Salesforce Ventures, B Capital, Smith Point Capital, J2 Ventures, Shield Capital, Overmatch, RTX, and others. About the Modeling & Simulation branch at Code Metal Code Metal M&S (Modeling & Simulation) is building WarMatrix, a suite of wargaming tools for the DoW that bridges the gap between warfighter experience and physics-based simulation. We take a user-driven, rapid iterative approach to build mission-critical flows that operators can trust. Working closely with subject matter experts across operations and analysis, we ensure WarMatrix features are custom-tailored to each wargaming partner's doctrinal requirements, and wargaming insights are trustworthy and grounded in physics. Our platform accelerates the wargame planning and analysis process, partnering with government stakeholders to model adjudication scenarios across multiple domains at scale and with rigor. We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for the WarMatrix wargaming suite. You'll work closely with customers, engineers, and designers to transform complex technical capabilities into products that solve real user problems in high-stakes environments. ## The Role This product operates at the intersection of high-fidelity simulation, geospatial data, AI, and real-time decision-making—environments where product decisions have meaningful operational impact. We're looking for a Senior Product Manager who thrives in technically complex domains and can quickly become fluent in new subject matter. You'll partner directly with users, domain experts, engineers, and designers to deeply understand workflows, uncover unmet needs, and define products that create measurable customer value. Success in this role requires balancing customer needs, technical constraints, and business priorities. You'll make thoughtful product tradeoffs, prioritize ruthlessly, and help the team focus on building the right things—not just building things right. This is a highly collaborative role where Product, Design, and Engineering operate as peers throughout discovery, planning, and execution. ## Responsibilities - Own product strategy and execution for one or more mission-critical software products, from discovery through delivery and iteration. - Develop deep empathy for users by conducting customer interviews, observing workflows, and partnering closely with domain experts to understand complex operational challenges. - Quickly ramp into unfamiliar technical domains and synthesize complex concepts into clear product direction. - Define product vision, strategy, roadmaps, and success metrics aligned with customer outcomes and company objectives. - Translate user needs, technical capabilities, and business priorities into clear product requirements and well-defined initiatives. - Partner closely with Design to lead user-centered discovery, validate concepts, and ensure solutions solve meaningful customer problems before development begins. - Work side-by-side with Engineering to understand technical tradeoffs, shape implementation approaches, and make informed prioritization decisions throughout development. - Make thoughtful tradeoffs between customer value, technical complexity, speed, and long-term platform investments. - Drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Design, Leadership, and customers to ensure shared understanding and successful execution. - Use qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate product performance and continuously improve user outcomes. - Clearly communicate product decisions, priorities, and rationale across technical and non-technical audiences. ## Requirements - Experience owning software products from discovery through launch in a technical B2B, enterprise, or platform environment. - Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new industries, technologies, and customer domains, becoming an effective product leader without requiring deep prior subject matter expertise. - Strong customer discovery and user research skills, with experience translating customer insights into product strategy and roadmap decisions. - Excellent product judgment and prioritization skills, with the ability to make smart tradeoffs under uncertainty. - Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering and Design as equal partners throughout the product development lifecycle. - Strong systems thinking and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into intuitive product experiences. - Experience defining product strategy using customer insights, business goals, and technical constraints. - Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across executive, technical, and customer audiences. - Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where priorities evolve as new information emerges. - Strong written communication skills for product requirements, strategy documents, and decision-making artifacts. - Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance. ## Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of Product Management experience building technical software products. - Experience working on complex technical products, developer or expert tools, AI platforms, simulation software, geospatial systems, defense technology, aerospace, or other technically sophisticated products. - Experience working directly with highly technical customers, engineers, and domain experts. - Familiarity with modern product discovery practices, experimentation, and user-centered product development. - Experience bringing new products from concept through launch in early-stage or high-growth environments. - Technical background or ability to engage confidently in engineering discussions around architecture, APIs, AI/ML, or distributed systems. ## Benefits - Pay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary range - Health care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision - 401k with 5% matching - Paid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays) - Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement - Relocation assistance for qualifying employees Wage Transparency - The salary range for this role is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, individual proficiency, skills, experience, and location. We are an equal opportunity employer. US Citizenship may be required for certain project assignments involving security clearance. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. ## About Code Metal ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Code Metal provides an AI-powered platform for verifiable code translation, enabling mission-critical industries to safely move software to different hardware architectures and languages with formal verification. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series B) - **Headquarters**: Boston, Massachusetts, United States - **Founded**: 2023 - **Founders**: Not publicly disclosed ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Software development tools; defense, automotive, aerospace, robotics, logistics - **Target customers**: B2B enterprise – engineering teams in safety-critical sectors (defense, automotive, aerospace, medical devices) - **Mission or purpose statement**: "Make AI trustworthy by safely delivering the last mile for mission critical industries" ([codemetal.ai](https://codemetal.ai/)) ## Products & Services - **Verifiable Code Translation Platform**: An AI-driven tool that automatically translates source code to a target architecture/language while generating a full test suite (functional and MCDC coverage) and formally verifying functional equivalence.
