## What you’ll own

We're hiring more than one engineer for different teams, this means:

- You’ll build and scale the backend powering our core product lines like [Bill Pay](https://getapron.com/pay-bill) or [Apron Card](https://getapron.com/expenses) and the systems our business depends on like fraud detection.
- You'll work cross-functionally with Frontend Engineers, Product Managers and Product Designers to ship new features from discovery through to production.
- You’ll design financial integrations where security and speed both matter.
- You’ll share your experience with others, driving innovation, proactively suggesting improvements and raising the bar for the team.

## What you’ll need

- 8+ years of continuous experience as a backend engineer.
- Previous in-house experience working in a product-led + fast-paced environment (startup or Tech company).
- Proficient in JVM-based languages, ideally Kotlin, for server-side development.
- Comfort with relational databases and the trade-offs that come with them at scale.
- Keen attention to code quality, passion for efficient architecture, and commitment to optimising performance.
- Would be a plus if you have:
- Hands-on Kotlin experience.
- Kubernetes and Terraform experience.
- Deep Postgres experience: GIST indexes, partitioning, replication.
