Birth defects affect 1 in 33 births in developed countries, and in 50% of cases, they are not detected during prenatal examinations. Prenatal medicine is particularly complex, and the scans impose heavy responsibilities on healthcare professionals. They can also be a source of stress for future parents. Resulting from 5 years of collaboration between world-renowned experts from Necker Hospital and Ecole Polytechnique, Sonio uses artificial intelligence to improve prenatal screening and diagnosis. Based on patented algorithms and a proprietary expert database, Sonio aims to become the reference tool to help practitioners improve screening, reduce diagnostic errors, and optimize pregnant women’s medical path. Sonio's mission is to improve women's and children's health by promoting access and quality of care through technological innovation, medical expertise, and collective intelligence. ## About the role We are currently building our next generation of products that provide real-time assistance to practitioners during fetal ultrasound examinations. We build systems that interface with ultrasound machines (multi-platform edge software), stream imaging data to our cloud (real-time web tech), interpret data and images using AI/ML, and push the results back to the practitioner’s interface (reactive web apps) - all in near real-time. You will work especially on how Sonio connects with the outside world: integration with healthcare information systems (EHR) and interconnection with ultrasound machines. Some of the key upcoming projects you will work on: - Scaling our data ingestion systems, - Refactoring how we ingest DICOM data into the system. This is a perfect role for a software engineer who really enjoys systems and building reliable systems when the volume increases a lot in a short amount of time. ## About the profile Sonio is a mission-driven company, so interest in our mission is critical. Other requirements are: - 8-10 years of software engineering experience, with strong system design skills. - Experience with a data ingestion system fed by machines (industrial, IoT, or similar distributed machines), and an appetite for infrastructure and data ingestion problems. - Exposure to at least one of the following programming languages: Python/Ruby/Go/Javascript/Rust/Elixir/Java/C/C++ with the ability and desire to pick up others if needed. - Customer-oriented and user-centric, comfortable talking with clients and non-technical people and going on-site in the US from time to time. - Fluent in English; English is the working language. - Start-up or scale-up experience is a big plus. Location: Paris Salary: 75-85k + 10% We move fast and aspire to be transparent over the process - our objective is that the process from the first chat to an offer is no longer than a month. We also aspire to give an answer to every application in a week - if you have not heard from us, please follow up at careers@sonio.ai. ## About Sonio ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Sonio is an AI-powered cloud-native platform that standardizes and automates fetal ultrasound workflows for OB-GYN practices to improve maternal and children’s health. - **Entity Type**: Private (acquired by Samsung Medison in September 2024) - **Headquarters**: Paris, France (147 Rue d'Aboukir, 75002 Paris);
