Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: Airbnb's Creative Studio is part of the team that establishes and maintains the voice — and the judgment — behind everything we write, generate, and publish at scale. You'll sit alongside writers and creative directors in a group that thinks about language the way a great designer thinks about visuals: with precision, taste, and an instinct for what's right versus what's merely correct. Your closest cross-functional partner will be Marketing Technology, whose teams build and tune the language models and editorial tooling you'll help shape. You'll also partner regularly with Legal, Trust, and Localization to ensure editorial standards and processes hold up across markets, languages, and regulatory considerations. The Difference You Will Make: You'll be responsible for shaping and maintaining Airbnb's brand voice and guidelines, training and refining the AI models that generate copy at scale, and serving as the final line of editorial judgment on AI-generated output before it reaches the world. This role is for someone whose taste and standards quietly define what "sounds like the brand" means, extended into an AI-assisted production pipeline. You won't just be proofreading — you'll be defining what "good" means for a system that writes at a scale no human team could match alone, and making sure it never loses the craft, warmth, and precision that language deserves. A Typical Day: - Own and evolve Airbnb’s brand voice, tone, and editorial guidelines, ensuring they’re clear, opinionated, and usable by both humans and AI systems. - Partner with Marketing Technology teams to train, fine-tune, and evaluate language models against brand voice standards, providing the editorial judgment that shapes what “on-brand” means at a model level. - Review and refine AI-generated copy across campaigns, product, and marketing surfaces — catching not just errors, but tone, nuance, and craft issues an automated system would miss. - Build and maintain scalable editorial QA processes for AI-generated content, defining what requires human review versus what can ship autonomously. - Translate brand guidelines into structured inputs (style guides, prompt frameworks, training examples) that improve model output over time. - Partner cross-functionally to develop new internal tools that support editorial review, model training, and content QA, bringing an editorial point of view to how these tools are structured and used. - Identify gaps in the current tooling ecosystem and help scope, prioritize, and define requirements for new tools that improve editorial efficiency and consistency at scale. - Pilot new tools with editorial and creative teams, gathering feedback and iterating on both functionality and language before wider rollout. - Act as a senior editorial voice in select creative reviews, giving direct, high-bar feedback to writers, creative directors, and AI workflows alike. - Partner with Legal, Trust, and Localization teams to ensure editorial standards and processes hold up across markets, languages, and regulatory considerations. - Mentor and elevate writing and editorial talent across the org, setting the standard for what excellent, brand-true language looks like. - Stay current on how language models evolve, and continuously push the editorial standards and training methods that keep AI-generated copy at a craft level worth publishing. - Proactively seek out opportunities across the company for more efficient copy creation or delivery. - Identify where language and voice consistency is breaking down at scale, and fix it at the system level — not just the sentence level. - Ensure content within the screens featured in our marketing materials are product-accurate, and efficiently created. Your Expertise: - 10+ years of editorial, copywriting, or brand voice experience, ideally at a Creative Director or Senior Editor level within an in-house brand team, agency, or publication known for editorial excellence. - A demonstrated, exacting eye for language — grammar and style are table stakes; what matters more is taste, rhythm, and judgment. - Experience developing or maintaining brand voice guidelines at scale across a global, multi-market brand. - Direct experience working with or training AI/language models. You understand how models learn from examples and feedback, and you know how to give feedback that actually improves output. - Comfort operating as both a hands-on editor (line-editing real copy) and a systems thinker (defining standards that scale beyond your own review). - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with Engineering/Technology, Legal, and Localization teams. - Comfort not just editing, but also writing; this role will craft brand guidelines, copy within tooling, and messaging within product screens. - The confidence to be the final word on language… and the humility to know when a guideline needs to evolve. - A portfolio or body of work that reflects a distinctive, well-crafted brand voice. - The ability to simplify complex problems and create clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. - Preferred skill-sets: - Experience at a company with a well-known editorial voice or brand language system. - Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning workflows, or structured content systems used to train generative models. - Experience localizing or adapting brand voice across multiple languages and cultural contexts. - Background in both traditional editorial craft (journalism, publishing, advertising copywriting) and modern content operations.
