## Job description

As Senior System Engineer, you will own the general system architecture of our robot from high-level functional decomposition to interface definitions and certification strategy.

You will play a central role in aligning hardware, software, and safety requirements into a coherent, robust, and certifiable product.

You will also be the primary point of contact with our external safety lab, driving the implementation of best practices and compliance pathways under the current Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and the upcoming EU Machinery Regulation.

## Key responsibilities

- Architect, Specify & Validate the System – Own the global system architecture, define requirements and interfaces (including functional APIs), lead design reviews and critical trade-offs, and support system integration and field validation to ensure coherence, robustness, and deployability.
- Drive Safety & Certification – Define and apply the certification methodology (requirements, specs, test plans, validation strategy) under the Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation.
- Ensure Customer-Site Certification Readiness – Support customers and the deployment team to address certification and safety topics related to system integration within warehouse environments.
- Coordinate with Safety Lab – Interface with the external safety laboratory, consolidate recommendations, and translate them into system-level decisions.
- Support Product Roadmap – Contribute to the product roadmap by defining and prioritizing customer use cases and operational scenarios.

Profile

- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in system engineering, robotics development, industrial automation, or complex hardware products.
- Proven track record in shipping systems or products – from concept through testing and deployment.
- Strong understanding of system engineering methodologies (requirements, FMEA, validation plans…).
- Familiarity with safety standards (ISO 12100, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, or similar).
- Ability to reason across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
- Hands-on mindset, rigor, teamwork, and appetite for real-world challenges.

Responsabilités

- Définir & Posséder l’Architecture Système – Diriger la décomposition fonctionnelle du robot, définir les interfaces entre les sous-systèmes mécaniques, électriques, embarqués et logiciels, et garantir la cohérence globale du système.
- Conduire la Stratégie de Safety & Certification – Construire et maintenir le plan safety du robot, coordonner les analyses de risques, et définir le chemin de conformité dans le cadre de la Directive Machines et de la future Réglementation Machines de l’UE.
- Coordonner avec le Laboratoire de Safety – Servir d’interface technique principale avec notre laboratoire externe de conseil en safety, traduire leurs recommandations en décisions d’ingénierie actionnables, et valider les hypothèses safety.
- Spécifier les Exigences & Interfaces – Rédiger et maintenir les exigences système, les contraintes, les documentations de contrôle d’interfaces et les artefacts de traçabilité nécessaires pour la certification et l’industrialisation.
- Diriger les Design Reviews – Challenger les choix de conception au sein des équipes, arbitrer les compromis (performance, sécurité, fiabilité, coût), et faire respecter les principes d’architecture.
- Soutenir l’Intégration & la Validation – Superviser l’intégration système, contribuer aux plans de test, soutenir les tests terrain, et s’assurer que le robot atteint les niveaux attendus de robustesse, de maintenabilité et de sécurité dans les environnements clients réels.
- Assurer la Documentation de Conformité – Maintenir les documents d’architecture, analyses de risques, rapports de test et dossiers safety requis pour le marquage CE et les audits réglementaires.
- Collaborer entre les Équipes – Travailler quotidiennement avec les équipes mécanique, électronique, logicielle, perception et IA pour aligner les développements vers un produit cohérent et certifiable.

Profil

- Diplôme d’ingénieur (ou équivalent) en robotique, mécatronique, systèmes embarqués ou domaine associé.
- 5+ ans d’expérience en ingénierie système, développement robotique, automatisation industrielle ou produits hardware complexes.
- Expérience avérée dans la mise sur le marché de systèmes ou produits – du concept jusqu’aux tests et au déploiement.
- Bonne compréhension des méthodologies d’ingénierie système (exigences, AMDEC/FMEA, plans de validation…).
- Familiarité avec les normes safety (ISO 12100, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, ou équivalent).
- Capacité à raisonner sur les domaines mécanique, électrique et logiciel.
- Goût du concret, rigueur, autonomie et esprit d’équipe.
