Today’s aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall. JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. We are seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to lead and execute aircraft-level and system-level safety activities. This role requires deep expertise in 14 CFR Part 25 development programs and hands-on experience applying ARP4761 and related safety processes across complex aircraft systems. What You'll Do: - Lead Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA) - Develop and manage safety requirements derived from aircraft and system-level hazards - Perform Common Cause Analyses including Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA) - Collaborate closely with systems engineering, suppliers, and certification teams - Support certification activities with authorities including compliance findings, safety artifacts, and contributions to the Safety Management System (SMS) What You Bring: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related field - 10-15 years’ experience on Part 25 aircraft development programs - Strong working knowledge of ARP4761, ARP4754A, and related guidance - Proven experience performing FHA, PSSA, SSA, and CCA across multiple aircraft systems - Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced development environment Preferred Skills & Experience: - Experience supporting experimental or first-of-type aircraft programs - Familiarity with FAA and EASA certification processes - Experience interfacing directly with suppliers and regulators - Strong technical writing and presentation skills Compensation: Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $160,000 - $180,000.
