## Job description

Senior Technical Project Manager – AI & Robotics Foundation Models Leite die technische Umsetzung unserer ambitioniertesten KI-gestützten Robotikprogramme. In dieser Rolle steuerst du interdisziplinäre Teams aus KI-, Robotik- und Softwareingenieuren, um die Grenzen der Physical AI zu erweitern. Du verantwortest die Feinabstimmung von Vision-Language-Action-(VLA)-Modellen und anderen Foundation Models und bringst diese auf reale Robotersysteme, von unserem kognitiven Roboterarm MAiRA über den humanoiden Roboter 4NE-1 bis hin zu unserem Serviceroboter MiPA. Du managst nicht nur Zeitpläne, sondern gibst die technische Richtung vor, löst kritische Herausforderungen und führst Projekte erfolgreich zum Abschluss.

Deine Mission & Herausforderungen

- Du führst interdisziplinäre Teams technisch und operativ und verantwortest die End-to-End-Umsetzung von KI-Robotik-Projekten, von der Konzeptphase bis zur erfolgreich validierten Implementierung auf realer Hardware.
- Du definierst die technische Strategie für das Fine-Tuning von Foundation Models (VLA und verwandten multimodalen Architekturen) und übersetzt innovative Forschungsansätze in einsatzfähige Roboterfähigkeiten.
- Du verantwortest den gesamten Fine-Tuning-Prozess und stellst sicher, dass Modelle trainiert, evaluiert und iterativ verbessert werden, bis sie die Zielaufgabe zuverlässig auf realen Robotern ausführen.
- Du förderst technische Exzellenz im Team, bewertest die Machbarkeit von Ansätzen, wählst geeignete Algorithmen und Datenstrategien aus und treibst die Optimierung von Performance, Robustheit und Sicherheit voran.
- Du leitest die gesamte Pipeline innerhalb unseres NeuraGym Physical AI Training Centers, von Teleoperation, Datenerfassung und Annotation über Training und Simulation bis hin zu Deployment und Validierung.
- Du arbeitest eng mit Robotikingenieuren vor Ort zusammen, um während Datenerfassung und Experimenten sicherzustellen, dass Zielverhalten und Sicherheitsstandards erfüllt werden.
- Du unterstützt das Team aktiv bei schwierigen Herausforderungen, prüfst Trainingsskripte, analysierst Datenprobleme und arbeitest gemeinsam an der Reproduktion und Behebung von Modellfehlern.
- Du fungierst als zentrale Schnittstelle zwischen KI-, Cloud-, Robotik- und Produktteams, beseitigst Hindernisse, stimmst Roadmaps ab und überführst Erkenntnisse in Produkt- und Plattformverbesserungen.
- Du kommunizierst Fortschritte, Risiken und Zielkonflikte klar an das Senior Management und andere Stakeholder und triffst die notwendigen Entscheidungen, um Projekte auf Kurs zu halten.
- Du führst mit positiver Energie und ehrgeizigen Zielen, vermittelst eine inspirierende Vision, feierst Erfolge und motivierst dein Team, Herausforderungen anzunehmen, die andere für unerreichbar halten.

Das bringst du mit

- Ein abgeschlossenes Masterstudium in Informatik, Robotik, Elektrotechnik oder einem vergleichbaren technischen Fachgebiet.
- Mindestens 7 Jahre Erfahrung in der Leitung komplexer technischer Projekte sowie nachweisliche Erfolge bei der Überführung von KI- oder Robotikprodukten von der Prototypenphase in den produktiven Einsatz.
- Tiefgehendes praktisches KI-Know-how, ein fundiertes Verständnis moderner Foundation Models sowie nachweisbare Erfahrung im Fine-Tuning von VLA-, Vision-Language- oder multimodalen Modellen für reale Anwendungen.
- Einen soliden Hintergrund in mindestens einem der folgenden Bereiche: visuelle Manipulation, Reinforcement Learning, Imitation Learning oder multimodale Modelle sowie die Bereitschaft, dich in weitere Themen einzuarbeiten.
- Sehr gute Python-Kenntnisse (C++ ist ein Plus) sowie praktische Erfahrung mit PyTorch oder TensorFlow. Du bist in der Lage, Trainingscode deines Teams zu lesen, zu verstehen und zu reviewen.
- Erfahrung im direkten Umgang mit realer Roboterhardware und entsprechender Middleware.
- Erfahrung mit Cloud-Plattformen (AWS, Azure oder GCP) sowie Kenntnisse von Robotiksimulationsumgebungen wie Isaac Sim oder MuJoCo sind von Vorteil.
- Ausgeprägte technische Führungskompetenz: Du motivierst, coachst und unterstützt Entwicklerteams, setzt hohe Qualitätsstandards und kommunizierst souverän zwischen Forschern, Ingenieuren und Anwendern.
- Gute Projektmanagement-Kenntnisse (Agile/Scrum). Zertifizierungen wie PMP, PRINCE2 oder vergleichbare Abschlüsse sind ein Plus, technische Glaubwürdigkeit steht jedoch an erster Stelle.
- Sehr gute Englisch- und Deutschkenntnisse (B2-C1).
