These features help customers turn their photos and memories into movies and magazines faster, through smart photo selection, auto layout, and AI-assisted storytelling. You'll shape how customers experience AI in the creative process, making it feel helpful, trustworthy, and in their control. ## What You'll Do - Lead end-to-end design of AI-powered creation features, from discovery and UX strategy through polished, dev-ready UI. - Plan and run user research and turn insights into recommendations, using AI tools for rapid synthesis while checking findings against source data. - Design for unpredictable AI output: generation states, multiple results, regeneration, partial success, and graceful failure, with controls that keep users in charge. - Build trust through transparency and responsible AI practices, including privacy of personal photos and fair representation in generated content. - Deliver responsive UI and code-based prototypes across web and iOS, and contribute reusable AI interaction patterns to the design system. - Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and designers, and document decisions so the team can carry the work forward after the engagement. ## What You'll Need - 8–10 years in UX/UI or product design, with a portfolio showing end-to-end work and shipped AI-powered features, including process, trade-offs, and outcomes. - Fluency with AI design tools (such as Figma Make, Claude, Cursor, etc.), the judgment to know when not to rely on them, and the ability to prototype with real model output. - Experience designing generative or AI-assisted creative tools, and a strong understanding of how LLM-based systems behave: non-deterministic output, latency, and error modes. - Strong interaction and visual design craft, including accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and native iOS conventions. - Clear async writing and presentation skills, and the ability to work independently and drive decisions with cross-functional partners. - Degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or equivalent practical experience. ## About Mixbook ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Mixbook is a #1 rated photo book platform that empowers people to design and share life’s most meaningful stories through customizable, high-quality photo goods. - **Entity Type**: Private (funded with Series A, B, and venture rounds; total funding $20M) - **Headquarters**: Redwood City, California, USA - **Founded**: 2006 - **Founders**: Andrew Laffoon, Aryk Grosz ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Photo book and personalized photo goods (Software Development / Consumer Goods) - **Target customers**: B2C – consumers (individuals and families) creating photo books, cards, calendars, prints, and wall art - **Mission or purpose**: To empower people to be creative and connect deeply with the ones they love ## Products & Services - **Mixbook Studio**: AI-powered online design tool for creating custom photo books, cards, prints, and calendars.
