Hardware Engineering is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction. This hybrid role will report to a Vehicle Engineering Leader. You will: - Use your broad experience in following commodities to develop/guide vehicle interiors for future Waymo projects: Hard trim, Soft trim, Door trim, Trunk trim, Cabin NVH - Create layouts, master sections, and  package studies in 3D CAD/ Catia V6, to support production part development - Recommend interior trim materials to balance low-cost vs. premium strategies - Provide standard and premium interior execution choices to Waymo leadership for evaluating investment and component cost against premium quality and value - Work with internal Waymo teams to recommend possible future partners for supply of components from a global supply base You have: - Worked at one or more vehicle manufacturers or tier one suppliers in the product development or Engineering teams, and have in-depth knowledge of typical tooling strategies for a range of interior trim components - Launched multiple vehicles through the production ramp problem solving phases of the programs - Worked with a studio team co-developing surfaces and panel interfaces and clearances - Examples of strong interaction with suppliers and  working through DFM during tooling launches - Experience benchmarking competitor vehicles to help guide decisions - Understanding of typical vehicle assembly strategies and sequence to inform shingling of components We prefer: - You are or have been a strong individual contributor, having owned areas of a car from concept through to launch - You have minimum 5+ years experience in interior trim development Travel requirements (if applicable): - 10% both Domestic and International The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
