Join us and help Take Us There. ## The Role We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a team responsible for the production and non-production environments supporting multiple in-house trading systems. This includes: - A distributed algorithmic trading platform hosted for our white-label clients. - A next-generation sequencer-architecture trading platform powering the NYSE and forming the foundation for the modernized core trading system at MarketAxess. - Web-based trading and other user interface applications In this role, you will become a deep technical expert on these platforms - owning reliability, stability, and performance across complex, latency-sensitive systems. You’ll help drive modernization efforts, strengthen SRE practices, partner with internal trading desks and engineering teams, and work directly with clients and external partners. Diverse perspectives and people who challenge the status quo are welcome and encouraged. ## How You'll Help Take Us There Platform Reliability & Operations - Own the reliable operation of our algorithmic trading and sequencer-based trading platforms in production and UAT. - Troubleshoot and resolve trading issues in partnership with the trade desk support team. - Diagnose complex production issues involving internal services, market centers, network paths, and external software vendors. - Perform release and configuration management across environments, including binary deployments and coordinated infrastructure changes. SRE Leadership & Best Practices - Help define, implement, and evangelize SRE best practices across the team. - Build a culture of automation, eliminating manual toil through robust scripting, tooling, and workflow re-design. - Conduct incident analytics and drive proactive detection, prevention, and capacity improvements. - Lead regular reviews of system performance, stability, and operational metrics with stakeholders. Platform & Client-Facing Engineering - Contribute to onboarding activities including client onboarding, FIX certifications, and API documentation. - Collaborate with internal developers, QA, infrastructure, and product teams to develop technical solutions exceeding client expectations. - Enhance system observability through improvements in monitoring, alerting, and logging across all environments. - Conduct system performance analysis testing including construction of test harnesses ## Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership - Mentor peers and junior engineers, sharing knowledge of systems, tooling, and reliability engineering. - Engage in internal and external technical communities, staying up to date on technology trends and industry practices. - Incorporate feedback from internal users and stakeholders into the roadmap – collaborating to the overall direction of the results. ## What We’re Looking for - Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python. - Proficiency with shell scripting (bash, ksh). - Understanding of JVM-based distributed applications and experience across Linux systems. - Solid knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts. - Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar). - Knowledge of FIX protocol, FIX connectivity workflows, and onboarding processes. - Understanding of market data, exchange protocols, messaging middleware, and data distribution. - Experience working with containerized applications. - Experience with AWS services. - Experience with monitoring/observability tools and associated best practices. - Deep commitment to automation of the entire SDLC. - Ability to leverage GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or equivalent) to accelerate development and improve code quality. - Applying AI-driven practices such as prompt engineering and AI-assisted code reviews to boost productivity and reduce delivery time while mitigating risks. - Knowledgeable in electronic trading, including equities and FX. - Understanding of trading lifecycles, ECNs, dark pools, equity market structure, and fixed income trading protocols (Spot FX a plus). - Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and incident-resolution skills. - Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to remain calm and effective in high-pressure trading environments. - Collaborative, personable, and skilled at working across cross-functional teams. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project execution abilities. - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. ## What You Can Expect from Us - Hybrid Environment: Our employees enjoy a mix of working in the office and from home - Free Food: We provide free lunch for employees when they are working in the office.
