We've been profitable since day one and are focused on building real consumer financial applications. We believe the future of finance is true on-chain banking. Our products — Stake, Liquid, and Cash — let users earn yield through DeFi strategies and spend their assets globally through our credit card program. You can view our growth publicly on Dune (https://dune.com/ether_fi/etherfi-cash) Position overview We're looking for a strong engineer to join credit card transaction team in ether.fi and contribute to the success of credit card program and the risk systems that sit on top of it. The first pillar is the transaction stack: card authorization and every decline that shouldn't have happened. You will look into what's causing the user frictions based on the declines transactions and come up with pro-active solutions to prevent them. The second pillar is fraud and risk. Today our defense is largely reactive; you will make it proactive on both sides of the line. Build the rules, monitoring, and internal tooling, and also use them: pull the data yourself, investigate the cases, work out what the attacker actually did, and turn that into the rule that catches it next time. You'll work closely with Product, CX, and Compliance, and directly with our card program and fraud vendors. ## What you'll do - Improve the card transaction experience: hunt down and eliminate the causes of declines, failed authorizations, stuck holds, and the frictions users actually hit when they spend - Make the card program better as a product; find where it breaks for real users, propose the fix, ship it - Hunt fraud and abuse patterns: card testing, cashback farming, merchant abuse, friendly fraud, trial and force-post abuse, multi-account rings - Own our fraud stack: rules, queues, and scoring logic in Sardine, plus real-time monitoring, alerting, and automated mitigation - Investigate live cases hands-on; query the transaction data, root-cause the pattern, and propose the rule or control that stops it recurring - Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts that make our risk and CX teams dramatically more effective ## What we are looking for - Strong fundamentals in software engineering and problem solving - 4+ years of professional coding experience, shipping products - Product sense; you care about the person on the other side of a declined transaction, and you'd rather fix the cause than close the ticket - Comfortable in the data, not just the codebase; strong instinct to dig into the data by querying it rather than asking someone else to - Genuine interest in adversarial problems; you find it satisfying to stare at noisy transaction data and spot the pattern that shouldn't be there, then explain why it's there Plus if you have - Worked at a fintech, neobank, card issuer, or issuer processor - Experience on the card issuing side, or with a card transaction processor - Knowledge of card and payment fraud mechanics: card testing, BIN attacks, friendly fraud, merchant collusion, cashback farming - Built on a fraud decisioning or transaction monitoring platform, and sat on the operational side of one - Run fraud investigations or disputes yourself, not only supported the people who do ## Perks and benefits - Competitive salary, performance-based incentives, and token allocation grant - Opportunity to work on multi-billion dollar products as part of a small team - Health, dental, and vision insurance plans - Global team with opportunity for travel and working out of our 3 offices around the world - 4 weeks work from anywhere - Exciting company events and team-building off-sites ## About Ether.fi ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Ether.fi is a leading non-custodial liquid staking protocol and DeFi ecosystem building the rails for decentralized, on-chain banking. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series A) - **Headquarters**: George Town, Cayman Islands - **Founded**: 2022 - **Founders**: Mike Silagadze (CEO) and Rok Kopp ## Core Business - **Primary Industry**: Decentralized Finance (DeFi) / Liquid Staking / Crypto Financial Services - **Target Customers**: Crypto-native individual stakers (B2C), institutional node operators, and DeFi users seeking yield and spending products. - **Mission**: To put users in charge of their wealth—making it easy to save, earn, and spend crypto in a secure, transparent, and non-custodial way. ## Products & Services - **[Stake (eETH/weETH)](https://www.ether.fi/careers)**: A non-custodial liquid staking protocol. Users stake ETH or stETH and receive eETH (or weETH for DeFi composability), which accrues staking rewards and can be used across DeFi. It is natively re-staked to earn additional yield. - **[Liquid](https://www.ether.fi/careers)**: Automated strategy vaults that find and optimize yields for users across DeFi protocols. - **[Cash](https://www.ether.fi/careers)**: A Visa credit card product allowing users to spend and borrow against their crypto assets without selling them. Includes a KYC process and fraud detection. - **[eBTC](https://www.ether.fi/blog/non-custodial-actively-defended)**: A liquid staking token for Bitcoin, extending the protocol’s non-custodial staking model. - **[eUSD](https://www.ether.fi/blog/non-custodial-actively-defended)**: A stablecoin product within the ether.fi ecosystem. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not disclosed (private company). - **Key Metric**: Over **$10B in assets under management (AUM)** as of June 2026. The company has been **profitable since day one**. - **Total Funding**: $32.3M raised across 4 rounds (Series A). - **Notable Investors**: CoinFund, Node Capital, Chapter One (26 institutional investors and 4 angel investors total). - **Growth Signals**: A team of ~30 people (almost all technical staff) managing over $10B in AUM, demonstrating extreme capital efficiency. The company is actively expanding its product suite into consumer credit cards (Cash) and Bitcoin staking (eBTC), signaling a move from pure DeFi infrastructure to end-user financial applications. ## Competitive Advantages - **Non-Custodial + Actively Defended**: The protocol is designed so that ether.fi cannot unilaterally move user funds (non-custodial), but it can pause the system and block in-flight attacks to protect users. This is a unique security doctrine that avoids the "decentralization theater" that leaves users drained during exploits. - **Four-Layer Security Architecture**: Operational security (key/infra hygiene), smart contract bounds (timelocks, rebate caps), crosschain defenses (4-of-4 DVN quorum, per-chain rate limits), and real-time active defense (wired to Hypernative monitoring). - **Capital Efficiency**: A tiny team (~30) manages a massive $10B+ asset base, indicating highly automated, lean operations and strong technical leverage. - **Profitability**: Profitable from day one, avoiding the "ponzinomics" and unsustainable token models common in the space. ## Strategic Focus - **Building Real Consumer Applications**: The company is focused on moving beyond pure DeFi infrastructure into mainstream financial products like the Ether.fi Cash Visa card, bridging the gap between crypto and everyday spending. - **True On-Chain Banking**: The long-term vision is to offer a full suite of non-custodial financial services (savings, lending, spending) entirely on-chain. - **Security-First Growth**: The public security doctrine (non-custodial, actively defended) is a core differentiator and a key focus of engineering effort, as outlined in their blog. ## Why Work Here - **High Impact, Small Team**: With ~30 employees and $10B+ in AUM, every employee has outsized responsibility and influence on the product and protocol. - **Top Compensation**: Annual performance-based bonuses, option to be paid in ETH, and a share of token allocation. - **Wellness Benefits**: Unlimited paid time off, one month per year to work fully remotely, plus health, dental, and vision coverage. - **In-Office Collaboration**: The company emphasizes in-person work (79% on-site, 16% hybrid) with offices in New York, Denver, Grand Cayman, and Dubai. They believe face-to-face interaction drives success. - **Culture & Events**: Frequent company off-site retreats (e.g., Cayman Islands, Lisbon) and attendance at top crypto events. - **Engineering Culture**: A builder-first environment with a focus on security, smart contract engineering, and real-time fraud/scam hunting. The interview process includes a skills-based interview and a final meeting with the CEO. - **Guiding Principles**: Decentralization is a primary objective, sustainable revenue model, and "never compromise on ethics." ## Sources 1.
