By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. ## The Role Software Engineers at Palantir drive large-scale transformation through data, AI and world-leading infrastructure that supports mission-critical workloads. As a Software Engineer Intern, you’ll have an opportunity to grow more quickly than you ever envisioned as you contribute high-quality code directly to: - Rubix and Apollo, platforms deployed at the most important institutions across the public and private sectors. - Shaping Mission Manager, our new internal-infrastructure business line, used by advanced civil and defense agencies worldwide to power their infrastructure in highly sensitive environments - Building the core capabilities used by advanced civil and defense agencies worldwide to power their infrastructure - Providing the substrate on which Palantir deploys its other platforms, Foundry and Gotham, which power workflows for research scientists, aerospace engineers, intelligence analysts and economic forecasters. You’ll join our Production Infrastructure organization, made up of small teams of engineers working on: - Environment Platform: a Kubernetes-based PaaS spanning hundreds of production clusters - Apollo: secure, fleet-wide deployment and change-management for complex microservice suites - Signals: our full suite of observability and alerting tools Core Responsibilities As a Software Engineer Intern at Palantir, you’ll own every phase of the product lifecycle—from generating ideas and designing prototypes to executing features and shipping releases—while being paired with a dedicated mentor who champions your growth. You’ll work hand-in-hand with both technical and non-technical colleagues to uncover real customer problems and deliver solutions that address them. To gain firsthand insight, you might sit side-saddle at a military exercise or partner directly with vendors using Palantir’s Apollo & Rubix to put our software into the hands of warfighters and government workers. SWE principles include: - Ownership: We see projects through from beginning to end in spite of obstacles we may encounter. - Collaboration: We work internally with people from a variety of backgrounds — such as other Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers and Product Reliability Engineers. We also partner with our business development teams (Forward Deployed Engineers, Deployment Strategists) in order to understand and solve our customers' problems. - Trust: We trust each other to effectively handle time and priorities, and don't micromanage. We want people to have the space to think for themselves, while feeling supported by their team. Technologies We Use It doesn’t matter what languages you know when you join us, but it does matter that you can write clean, effective code and learn new languages quickly. Our software is constantly evolving, so we need engineers who can do the same. Alongside peers that bring diverse experience - whether you’re a former university TA, switched to CS recently, or are a hackathon enthusiast — you'll build your skills to apply the best technology to solve a given problem. Right now, we use: - A variety of languages, including Java and Go for backend and Typescript for frontend - Open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Cilium, Envoy, Grafana, React, and Redux - Industry-standard tooling, including Gradle and GitHub, and agentic tools like Windsurf & Cline ## What We Value - Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of individuals, including engineers, users and non-technical team members. - Willingness to learn and make decisions independently, and the ability to ask questions when needed. - Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance. ## What We Require - Engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, and Physics. - Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools. - Experience coding in programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages. - Must be planning on graduating in 2028. This should be your final internship before graduating. To apply, please submit the following: - An updated resume / CV - please do so in PDF format. - Thoughtful responses to our application questions. ## About Palantir Technologies ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Palantir builds software platforms that empower organizations to integrate their data, decisions, and operations at scale. - **Entity Type**: Public (NYSE: PLTR) - **Headquarters**: Miami, Florida, United States - **Founded**: 2003 - **Founders**: Not explicitly listed in provided sources (widely reported as Peter Thiel, Alex Karp, and Stephen Cohen) ## Core Business - **Primary industries**: Data integration, artificial intelligence, defense & intelligence, commercial analytics - **Target customers**: Government agencies (defense, intelligence, civil), large commercial enterprises, and regulated industries - **Mission or purpose**: “Build foundational software for tomorrow” and design technology that helps institutions protect liberty while making human‑driven analysis of real‑world data possible [palantir.com/about] ## Products & Services - **Palantir Gotham**: Platform for the intelligence and defense community, enabling counterterrorism investigations and operations. - **Palantir Foundry**: Foundational data operations platform providing data management, logic authoring, ontology development, analytics, and workflow building. - **Palantir Apollo**: Continuous delivery platform that orchestrates upgrades and manages the infrastructure hosting other Palantir platforms. - **Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP)**: Generative AI platform with secure connectivity to third‑party LLMs, development toolchain for AI agents, AI‑enabled end‑user applications, and evaluation frameworks for governing AI workflows. ## Market Standing - **Valuation / Market Cap**: $100.6 B (as of the search date, approximate) - **Key Metric**: Annual revenue of $4.5 B (latest fiscal year); IPO in 2020 - **Notable Investors / Partners**: Public market investors; major U.S. and allied government agencies, commercial clients across healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and logistics - **Growth Signals**: 3,843 employees (+20.2% YoY, +998 people); operations in 12 countries; workforce distributed across 49 countries; continued expansion of AIP and commercial customer base ## Competitive Advantages - **Engineer‑in‑the‑field model**: Palantir sends engineers directly to customers to deploy products, integrate data, and produce operational results in weeks, not years. - **Privacy‑by‑design**: Built‑in privacy‑protective capabilities, governance tools, and a strong track record of working with advocacy groups on responsible data use. - **Platform lock‑in**: Deep integration with customer data and workflows through Ontology and custom applications makes switching costs extremely high. - **Long‑term government contracts**: Decades‑long relationships with U.S. and allied defense/intelligence agencies provide stable revenue and high barriers to entry. ## Strategic Focus - **AI leadership**: Making AIP the standard for secure, governed generative AI deployment in regulated industries. - **Commercial expansion**: Growing the commercial customer base beyond government, especially in supply chain, healthcare, and finance. - **Continuous delivery**: Leveraging Apollo to ensure rapid, safe updates across all deployments, reducing maintenance overhead for customers. ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Mission‑driven engineering environment where engineers work directly on the hardest problems for critical institutions. “We’re engineers, not academics.” - **Autonomy and impact**: New hires are trusted with responsibility from day one and are paired with a mentor. “Palantir trusts our early talent engineers to make an impact from day one.” - **Flexibility**: Take‑what‑you‑need time‑off policy; offices closed for two weeks in December; flexible working arrangements including remote work when appropriate. - **Benefits**: Generous paid parental leave, fertility services, adoption assistance, equity programs, mental health support (virtual therapy, meditation), and robust healthcare coverage. - **Diversity & inclusion**: Equal Employment Opportunity employer; publishes UK Gender Pay Gap Report; strives for “many pathways to success” beyond traditional career ladders.
