A Sr. Equipment Operator position is available with The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Streets and Stormwater Operations Division (Vegetation Maintenance Program). The department is seeking to hire a Sr. Equipment Operator with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and to join our dedicated team for the critical task of stormwater asset maintenance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our stormwater infrastructure, ensuring the efficient flow of water, and preventing potential hazards. As a member of the team, the ideal candidate will work four (4) ten-hour work days and will be subject to emergency call-back. Emergency call-back could be after hours, on weekends, on holidays, and/or during weather events. You will be required to work outdoors, during inclement weather, around moving traffic/equipment, in and around water, and overgrown vegetation. Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma/GED - Three (3) years’ experience in operations of motorized equipment - Must possess a valid Class A Driver’s License with a Tank Endorsement Preferred Qualifications: - Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including operating a dump truck with a trailer, off-road equipment such as skid-steer, walk-behind, mini-excavator, payloader, and remote loader - Computer skills including but not limited to Vueworks, MS Office, and other related work order management systems - Supervising crew when needed - Drainage system knowledge - Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures, including flagging The Sr Equipment Operator job responsibilities include: - Perform preventative maintenance on equipment assigned. Performs pre and post-trip inspection on equipment - Load and unload heavy materials and equipment by hand and with tools/machines - Assist with set-up of traffic control cones and barriers - Maintain paperwork, respond to high priority calls and provide training and instruction to other personnel who operate equipment related to assigned division - Operate a variety of motorized equipment such as dump trucks, trailers, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, walk behind, remote loader and front-end loader - Supervise small crews when needed - Use various hand and power tools such as shovels, sledge hammer, pitchfork, weed eater, chainsaw, socket & ratchet set - Assist in vegetation maintenance related duties - Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to completion of assigned jobs such as operating walk behind, skid steer, mini-excavator, removal of debris by hand and working with and around heavy equipment and confined space - Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used - Respond to emergency calls during inclement weather such as rain events, flooding, and Ice/Snow events Working Conditions Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling; general manual dexterity; adequate speech, vision, and hearing required; must be able to operate assigned equipment and vehicles and maintain the ability to crawl into 21” pipes and up.
