We partner with leading corporations and entrepreneurs to identify major industry opportunities, validate new venture concepts, and launch new software and hardware companies. We’re seeking a Sr. Fullstack Engineer to help turn early product direction into real, working software. This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable operating in early-stage, ambiguous environments where requirements, workflows, and technical architecture may still be forming. Many projects will begin with a business problem, rough product concept, or operational pain point rather than a fully defined technical specification. You should be able to take loosely defined requirements, determine a practical technical path forward, make sound assumptions where details are missing, and drive implementation without needing highly detailed tickets or step-by-step direction. You will work closely with venture builders, product, design, and engineering teams. Venture builders help define the opportunity and direction; this role is responsible for translating that direction into pragmatic technical plans, product experiences, and working software. Technical Challenge You’ll build end-to-end product experiences across modern web applications, backend services, APIs, data models, integrations, and cloud infrastructure. The work will often involve validating early product concepts, building MVPs, creating internal tools, integrating third-party systems, and shipping usable software quickly. You’ll need to balance speed, quality, and maintainability while making practical tradeoffs based on where the venture is in its lifecycle. This is a highly collaborative role, but not a heavily prescribed one. You’ll be expected to bring technical judgment, ownership, and initiative to ambiguous engineering problems. ## Responsibilities - Design, build, and ship fullstack product features using React, TypeScript, backend services, APIs, and relational databases - Translate loosely defined product direction into practical technical plans and working software - Build polished, usable frontend experiences while also owning the backend services and data models that support them - Design and implement APIs, integrations, workflows, dashboards, and internal tools needed to validate early product concepts - Make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance speed, reliability, maintainability, and future scalability - Deploy and operate applications in cloud environments, primarily AWS - Identify technical risks, product gaps, unclear requirements, and dependencies early, then propose practical paths forward - Collaborate with venture builders, product, design, engineering, and stakeholders to clarify direction and move quickly from concept to implementation - Operate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment where priorities and requirements may evolve quickly You should have: - 7+ years of experience as a Fullstack Engineer or similar software engineering role - Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development - Strong backend development experience building idempotent APIs and services, application logic, and data-backed workflows - Solid working knowledge of Python or willingness to work in Python-based backend environments - Proficiency with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling - Hands-on experience with deploying and operating applications in an AWS environment - Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools, custom agents, or automation workflows to accelerate software delivery, prototype solutions, improve code quality, and reduce repetitive engineering work - Ability to work from incomplete requirements, make reasonable assumptions, and move work forward without waiting for fully detailed tickets - Ability to work in fast paced startup environments with evolving requirements - Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams Preferred Expertise: - Experience building products from 0->1, MVP, or early-stage validation - Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or similar tools - Experience with with AI-enabled products, LLM integrations, or AI-assisted development workflows UP.Labs Summary: UP.Labs builds high-growth technology startups that enable faster, cleaner, and safer movement of people and goods. We partner with leading corporations and entrepreneurs to identify major industry opportunities, validate new venture concepts, and launch software and hardware companies from the ground up. Our team works at the earliest stage of company creation, where ideas are still forming, requirements are evolving, and technical validation is critical. We take ventures from concept through MVP and help recruit the full-time team that will scale the business. This environment requires people who are comfortable operating with ambiguity, making pragmatic technical decisions, and helping turn early product concepts into real, working systems.
