Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing robust and scalable SaaS solutions. You will contribute significantly to technical architecture, ensuring our engineering practices meet high standards and align with the overall enterprise strategy. This role requires both people leadership and a strong individual contributor mindset with a passion for technical excellence, mentorship, and collaborative problem-solving. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and other engineering functions, to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver high-quality products that delight our internal and external customers. ## HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO - Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, robust, and secure application architecture under the guidance of the Director of Software Engineering. - Own onshore alignment and the daily handoff cadence — provide structured, async-first updates on progress, risks, and ensure decisions needing onshore input are raised before the overlap window closes. - Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering within your team, focusing on DevOps competencies (CI/CD), monitoring and observability, performance, and automated testing. - Oversee modernization efforts - including maintenance and migration of legacy applications while ensuring minimal disruption to existing customers. - Ensure compliance with SOC2 controls by embedding evidence collection, access management, and secure development processes into daily workflows. - Set high standards for code quality by modeling clean, maintainable coding practices and guiding the team through effective peer reviews. - Work across teams to ensure seamless integration and successful deployment of applications. - Assist in the architectural design of SaaS software systems and implement key architectural initiatives as directed. - Continuously assess and improve system performance ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability and drive root cause analysis for production issues. - Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering and architecture. ## HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field preferred. - Minimum of 10+ years of qualifying experience in software engineering. - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SaaS application development. - Working knowledge of VB.NET along with proficiency in multiple programming languages is highly preferred - especially C#, React, Node.js, Python, and TypeScript. - Experience with implementing and maintaining SOC2 type2 certification in SaaS products is preferred. - Demonstrated ability to architect, design, build, and integrate frontend user interfaces, backend services, and APIs. - Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, cloud computing, APIs, deprecating services, and DevOps practices such as CI/CD and source control (Git). - Experience leading hybrid onshore and offshore software engineering teams is preferred. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. ## ABOUT THE FOS TEAM: The FOS (Facility Optimization Solutions) products team at CannonDesign is dedicated to delivering innovative and comprehensive software, data and AI solutions that drive business success, brand awareness and customer client satisfaction.
