Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy. ## The Role T1 Energy is looking to hire a Staff Metrology Engineer to own measurement systems and data integrity at our G2 solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. This is a senior technical role for an engineer who understands that in a high-volume fab, you can only control what you accurately measure, and who has the expertise in MSA, gauge R&R, and measurement system design to make sure every measurement we rely on is one we can trust. You’ll build the measurement infrastructure and control frameworks that underpin process control, yield management, and quality across the entire fab, from the ground up. Staff here means technical depth rather than headcount: you won’t have direct reports, but you will set the measurement standard that the engineers and technicians around you work to. ## What You'll Do - Serve as the technical authority for metrology at the G2 solar cell fab, including in-line and off-line measurement systems across all process steps. - Design, implement, and maintain measurement system analysis (MSA) programs including gauge R&R studies to validate and ensure measurement system reliability. - Develop and manage metrology control plans aligned with process control requirements and quality specifications. - Partner with Process, Quality, and Equipment teams to integrate metrology data into SPC systems and process control workflow. - Lead qualification and calibration of metrology tools including film thickness, resistivity, surface inspection, and IV characterization systems. - Establish sampling strategies and measurement plans that balance control requirements with throughput. - Analyze metrology data to identify process trends, measurement system drift, and opportunities for improved process control. - Work with metrology tool vendors on technical issues, and support tool procurement, installation, and qualification activities. - Develop and maintain metrology documentation including measurement plans, calibration records, and SOP libraries. - Set the measurement standard for your area, and mentor the metrology engineers and technicians working to it. ## Who You Are - Deeply skilled in measurement systems analysis, gauge R&R, and the statistical frameworks that underpin metrology in a manufacturing environment. - Technically hands-on and comfortable working across a broad range of metrology tools and measurement techniques. - Detail-oriented and exacting - you understand that bad data is worse than no data, and you build systems accordingly. - A collaborative partner to process and quality engineering who translates measurement insights into actionable process improvements. - The technical authority others rely on, who sets the measurement standard and develops junior engineers. ## Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field. - 7+ years of metrology engineering experience in a semiconductor, solar cell, or advanced manufacturing environment. - Deep expertise in measurement systems analysis (MSA) and gauge repeatability and reproducibility (gauge R&R) studies. - Hands-on experience with solar cell or semiconductor metrology tools including film thickness, sheet resistance, surface inspection, and electrical characterization systems. - Strong background in SPC and process control methodologies and their integration with metrology data. - Experience developing and executing calibration and metrology qualification programs. - Proficiency with data analysis tools (Python, JMP, Excel, or similar) for metrology data processing and reporting. - Experience setting measurement standards and mentoring engineers or technicians. The T1 Way We move fast, expect accountability, and treat people with respect. We also have a no-jerks policy: we don't tolerate big egos, bad behavior or "that's not my job attitude". Be sharp, be honest, be human. If you can hold the line and have a sense of humor, you'll fit right in. T1 Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and applicants and do not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristics. ## About T1 Energy ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: T1 Energy manufactures advanced solar modules and is building an integrated U.S. solar and battery supply chain for utility-scale energy customers. - **Entity Type**: Public (NYSE: TE) - **Headquarters**: Austin, Texas, USA - **Founded**: 2020 (as FREYR Battery); rebranded to T1 Energy in February 2025 - **Founders**: Not publicly available ## Core Business - **Primary industries**: Solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing, solar cell production, battery energy storage, and data center infrastructure. - **Target customers**: Utility-scale solar developers and independent power producers (B2B). - **Mission statement**: “Advancing the energy shift from Austin, Texas” by building domestic solar & battery supply chains to deliver scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. ## Products & Services - **G1_Dallas Solar Modules**: High-efficiency PERC and TOPCon PV solar modules produced at a 5 GW nameplate facility in Wilmer, Texas.
