Have you been a senior technical leader on a high performing product team shipping to hundreds of paying customers? If so, we want you. Come join Crogl and reinvent security operations. ## What you'll be doing As a Staff Engineer at Crogl, you will be the technical anchor for one of our engineering teams. You will own the architecture and design for your team's part of the platform, set the technical bar for the engineers around you, and give our customers' analysts, from beginners to SMEs, superpowers. Your work will directly impact how organizations secure and defend their digital estate. - Own the architecture, technical design, and delivery for your team's area of the platform, turning roadmap into engineering plans that ship and hold up in production - Drive the hardest technical decisions in your domain and resolve ambiguous, high-risk problems before they become blockers - Design and build core parts of our compound AI system, spanning agents, LLMs, and RAG, with a focus on reliability, evaluation, and scale - Own your team's most complex, mission-critical initiatives end to end, from problem framing through production and iteration - Establish and champion engineering best practices, coding standards, architectural patterns, and AI-native development techniques within your team - Multiply your team's impact by mentoring senior and mid-level engineers, raising the quality bar through code review, design review, and your own hands-on work - Partner closely with your product and design counterparts to uncover requirements and align on priorities - Stay current with the state of the art in software engineering and applied AI, and bring the relevant advances into your part of the platform ## What you bring to the team - 8+ years of back-end engineering experience, or equivalent, including time operating as the technical lead or architect for a team or a significant product area - Deep experience architecting production-grade distributed systems and scaling them, with strong fluency in one or more of Go, Python, or other major back-end (preferably statically typed) languages - Proven ability to set technical direction for a team and deliver complex, high-impact projects - Hands-on experience building or scaling AI systems in production, ideally LLM-based, agentic, or retrieval-augmented, with sound judgment on where AI genuinely fits - Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical solutions into tangible business value - A continuous learning mindset and a bias toward proving out new approaches rather than only tracking them - Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a history of building consensus, elevating peers, and navigating cross-functional relationships What makes you stand out from other candidates - Track record of taking high-impact products from concept to market at scale - Experience building agentic or LLM-powered products in production, including evaluation and reliability practices - Cybersecurity domain depth, especially in security operations (SOC, SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR) or detection engineering - Early or founding engineer experience at a fast-moving startup - Passion for delivering highly reliable systems and for transforming the practice of defensive cybersecurity Education Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience Crogl is an equal opportunity employer and provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, genetic information, marital status or veteran status. ## About Crogl ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Crogl deploys autonomous AI agents to investigate every security alert, hunt every advisory, and document every action for enterprise security operations centers (SOCs). - **Entity Type**: Private (Series A) - **Headquarters**: Dallas, Texas, United States - **Founded**: 2023 - **Founders**: Monzy Merza (CEO), Lipyeow Lim (Head of AI) ## Core Business - **Primary industry**: Computer and Network Security (Enterprise Security Operations / AI for Security) - **Target customers**: B2B — sophisticated enterprise security teams, managed security service providers (MSSPs), federal agencies, critical infrastructure, and Fortune 500 financial institutions - **Mission or purpose statement**: "Enable every security analyst to be as effective as the entire team." ## Products & Services - **Crogl Autonomous Investigation Platform**: A neurosymbolic AI system that autonomously investigates every security alert by querying existing SIEM, EDR, identity provider, and threat intelligence feeds in their native format. It uses knowledge graphs, large language models, and agents to gather context, cross-reference data, and produce a complete, auditable investigation for analysts to review and act upon. Deployed on-premises, in private cloud, or fully air-gapped — no data leaves the customer's environment. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly disclosed - **Key Metric**: Total Funding — **$30M** raised across two rounds - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Menlo Ventures (led Series A), Tola Capital (led Seed round). Board members include Tim Tully (former CTO, Splunk) and Brad Lovering (advisor, former Chief Architect at Splunk and Microsoft Technical Fellow). - **Growth Signals**: Headcount grew **105.6% YoY** (+19 people) to 31 employees as of mid-2025. The company is deployed in "some of the world's most demanding security environments, federal agencies, critical infrastructure, Fortune 500 enterprises." Already investigating **1,000+ alerts daily** for a U.S. Defense Agency and a Fortune 500 Financial Institution. ## Competitive Advantages - **Neurosymbolic AI architecture**: Combines knowledge graphs, LLMs, and security best practices for reasoning, not just pattern matching — producing auditable, analyst-recognizable findings. - **Customer-managed deployment**: Runs inside the customer's infrastructure (on-prem, private cloud, air-gapped) — no data ever leaves the environment, a critical requirement for defense, intelligence, and regulated industries. - **Works with existing stack on day one**: No schema normalization, no recoding — integrates natively with SIEM, EDR, ticketing, and data lake tools. - **Leadership with deep domain credibility**: Founders and leadership spent careers at Splunk, Databricks, Mandiant, HSBC, and IBM Research. They have lived the SOC problem for over a decade. ## Strategic Focus - **Scale the team**: Actively hiring for Growth Marketer, Account Executive, Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Applied Security Researcher, and Software Engineer (Product). - **Expand enterprise and federal footprint**: Already deployed at a U.S. Defense Agency and a Fortune 500 financial institution; likely targeting more critical infrastructure and government clients. - **Product depth**: Continuing to build autonomous investigation, threat hunting, and re-analysis capabilities for existing alerts — moving toward full SOC automation without replacing existing tools. ## Why Work Here - **Remote-first**: "Work from wherever you do your best thinking. No mandates, no surveillance software, no 'culture of presence' theater." The company is distributed and trusts employees to deliver. - **Real healthcare**: "Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision. No gotcha deductibles. No 'wellness stipend' disguised as a benefits package." - **Leadership that's done the work**: Founders and leaders spent years in SOC trenches at Splunk, Databricks, Mandiant, and HSBC. They are building a solution they personally needed. - **Frontier work**: "We use the best available tools and approaches, including the ones that are still being figured out. This is frontier work. We expect ambiguity and we build through it." - **High-impact, small team**: "We're a small team solving a large problem. Every person at Crogl works directly on technology that's deployed in some of the world's most demanding security environments." - **Values-driven culture**: Emphasizes "In Service to Others," "Ownership Without Ego," "Confidence Through Competence," and "Tech Forward" — building for analysts, not for demos. ## Sources 1.
