We're creating the infrastructure for a thriving space economy, enabling humanity to flourish beyond Earth. Our vision is bold, but we're not just dreamers; we're doers. We design and manufacture large-scale orbital structures that enable commercial operations while meeting the requirements of defense and government missions. Our systems are built to scale and built to last—bridging commercial innovation with mission-critical performance. If you're ready to lay the foundations for a new era in space, embrace a culture of relentless learning and innovation, and contribute to a future where humanity's reach extends farther, Gravitics is the place for you. Let's build the future together. ## About the Role The Strategic Communications Manager is a company-wide communications resource who reports to the Chief Technical Officer. The primary focus of the role is translating the technical work of Gravitics into clear, accurate, and consistent communication for the audiences that matter most — commercial and government customers, industry and technical communities, investors, prospective employees, and the Gravitics team itself. The position sits within the CTO organization because the substance of what the company communicates comes out of engineering, advanced programs, and technical operations, and the person in this role needs day-to-day proximity to that work to represent it well. Because the subject matter ranges from hardware and test results to security and compliance topics, this role requires someone who can learn technical material quickly, ask the right questions, and write with equal confidence for an engineer, a program office, or a general audience. ## Responsibilities - Develop and maintain the company’s core messaging, key technical claims, and approved facts and figures. - Write, edit, and prepare briefings, presentations, talking points, papers, abstracts, and announcements. - Support the CTO and other executives with speaking material, interview preparation, and stakeholder communication. - Review outbound material for accuracy and for export-controlled, classified, or proprietary content before release. - Maintain a communications calendar aligned to program milestones, test events, conferences, and announcements. - Prepare and maintain response plans and holding statements for sensitive or time-critical situations. - Coordinate with departments across the company to gather source material and confirm technical accuracy. - Support internal communication so the team hears significant company news clearly and first. ## About You Day to day, the Strategic Communications Manager works with the CTO and area leads to turn technical and programmatic work into finished communication. This means developing and maintaining the core messaging the company uses to describe its products and programs, keeping the underlying facts and figures accurate and consistent wherever they appear, and producing the material that carries that message — customer and stakeholder briefings, technical papers and conference abstracts, presentations and talking points, announcements, website and social content, and internal updates. They also serve as a review point before material leaves the company, checking outbound content for accuracy and for export-controlled, classified, or customer-proprietary information, and working with the Facility Security Officer and program leads when something needs a closer look. When a milestone, test event, contract award, or unexpected event calls for a public response, this role prepares the message and the supporting material. Beyond the CTO organization, the Strategic Communications Manager is also available to support the rest of the executive team. There may be work for the Chief Business Officer on proposal and capture narrative or customer-facing capability material, for the CEO or Chief Financial Officer on investor and board communication, for Human Resources on recruiting and employer-brand content, or for the Chief Operating Officer on communication tied to manufacturing, facilities, or safety. This flexibility is a deliberate part of the position: as a growing company, Gravitics benefits from having one skilled communicator who understands the technology well enough to be pointed at the highest-priority message, wherever it sits. Required Attributes - Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 2 to 5 years of experience in communications, technical writing, public affairs, or a related role. - Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to adjust tone and depth for different audiences. - Ability to learn complex technical subject matter quickly and explain it accurately without oversimplifying. - Strong organization and time management, with the ability to run multiple deliverables at once under deadline. - Comfort working directly with engineers and technicians as well as executives and outside stakeholders. - Sound judgment on what can and cannot be shared publicly, including familiarity with export control and proprietary information handling. - Professional discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information. - This role will support programs for U.S. Government customers, including national security and defense-related missions. Candidates must be willing to work on Civil, Commercial, and Defense-related projects. ## Compensation and Benefits Your level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the considerations of job-related knowledge and skills, education, and direct experience. Salary is just one component of the total employee package, which also includes company equity at an exciting time of company growth, as well as comprehensive medical, 401(k) retirement plan, a generous PTO policy, employee discounts, and more. ## About Compliance To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Gravitics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and business needs, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin or ethnicity, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected status. Salary Range $100,000—$115,000 USD ## About Gravitics, Inc ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Gravitics develops modular, 4-meter diameter space station platforms, orbital carriers, and cargo/logistics systems for commercial, civil, and defense space infrastructure. - **Entity Type**: Private (Grant-II stage; total disclosed funding ~$21.7M in equity/grants plus a $60M STRATFI contract from the U.S. Space Force) - **Headquarters**: Seattle, Washington, USA (with a manufacturing facility in Marysville, WA) - **Founded**: 2021 - **Founders**: Colin Doughan (Co-Founder & CEO), Michael Bowker (Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer), Jiral Shah (Co-Founder & Chief Architect) ## Core Business - Primary industry: Aerospace & Defense (space infrastructure, orbital logistics, tactical responsiveness) - Target customers: U.S. Department of Defense (Space Force, Missile Defense Agency), civil space agencies, commercial space station operators - Mission: Expand human flourishing throughout the solar system by building scalable, modular space platforms that enable rapid, on-demand operations ## Products & Services - **StarMax**: Pressurized commercial space station module (4m diameter) designed for crewed and cargo missions; supports space station buildout. - **Orbital Carriers (Viper OTX, Medusa)**: Free-flying platforms that house and deploy multiple payloads or spacecraft on-orbit; enable tactically responsive space missions (under 12-hour call-up).
