As a Strategy & Operations Analyst at Formlabs, you will turn messy business problems into shipped solutions. You’ll take problem statements from teams across the company — Finance, Operations, Sales, Support, R&D — scope them, rally the right people, and build much of the solution yourself with SQL, Python, automation, and AI tools. You’ll also be a key partner to the CIO in running the IT & Systems organization: driving OKRs, reporting, and roadmapping across a 26-person team spanning data platform, digital systems, financial systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. This is a role for someone early in their career with a very strong ability to learn quickly — someone who has done analytical or operations work at a consulting firm, startup, or BizOps team, and who would rather build the fix than write the deck about it. You will report directly to the CIO and work closely with the leaders of each IT & Systems team. This role is based in our Somerville, MA office and will be a hybrid role with the expectation of at least 3 days a week in office. The Job: - Business Problem Delivery: Take ambiguous problem statements from the business, define requirements and success measures, and lead small cross-functional teams from scoping through launch. - Hands-On Building: Write the SQL queries, Python scripts, integrations, and low-code or AI-powered automations that close gaps between systems — then hand off steady-state ownership to the right domain team. - OKRs & Planning: Run the IT & Systems OKR process — gather inputs, track progress, and surface risks early so leadership can make decisions. - Reporting & Roadmaps: Own the data, cadence, and first draft of recurring leadership reporting, roadmap rollups, and spend reporting (cloud, SaaS, and AI tools). - Operational Excellence: Improve how the organization runs — software purchasing, renewals, license hygiene, and vendor coordination — with a bias toward automating the process rather than doing it by hand. - Executive Support: Prepare analysis and materials for executive and cross-functional discussions, translating technical work into business outcomes. You: - Experience: 2–4 years in consulting, business operations, strategy & operations, or a similar analytical role. - MBA: From a top-tier program (or equivalent strategic experience in fast-paced, high-growth companies) - Builder Mindset: Have shipped something real that other people used — a tool, dashboard, automation, or script — not just a spreadsheet model. - Technical Skills: Comfortable writing SQL and working in Python or a similar scripting language; able to learn new systems and APIs quickly. - Structured Thinking: Can break down an ambiguous problem, size it, and communicate a clear recommendation in writing and in person. - Cross-Functional Influence: Lead without authority — you build trust with engineers, finance partners, and business stakeholders alike. - Ownership: Highly organized, follow through on commitments, and are comfortable juggling several workstreams at once. - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, economics, business, or a related field. Bonus Points: - Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, agentic workflows) to automate business processes. - Exposure to enterprise systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Shopify, or a modern data stack (dbt, BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar). - Experience running an OKR, planning, or budgeting process. - Familiarity with software procurement, vendor management, or SaaS spend management. - Interest in hardware, manufacturing, or 3D printing. Our Perks & Benefits: - Robust equity program to build future wealth through RSUs - Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision) - Low cost fund options in our 401K and access to advisors - Generous paid Parental Leave (up to 16 weeks) - Tenure-based paid Sabbatical Leave (up to 6 weeks) - Flexible Out of Office Plan – Take time when you need it - Ample free on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits - Healthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, & treats - Regular sponsored professional development opportunities - Many opt-in culture events across our diverse community - And of course… unlimited 3D prints We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Even if you don’t check every box, but see yourself contributing, please apply. Help us build an inclusive community that will change the face of 3D printing. Compensation: Equity is a big part of the compensation package at Formlabs - every employee receives equity because everyone contributes to building the company. We have a lot of confidence in the products we’re building and the impact we’re making, and you should too. Base pay is the other part of our compensation package, and it is carefully determined based on your skills, experience, and expected impact. Equity and base pay combine to make up your total compensation package at Formlabs. The annual base pay range for this role is: $85,000—$140,000 USD ## About Formlabs ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Formlabs designs and manufactures professional desktop 3D printers, materials, and software that make industrial-quality additive manufacturing accessible to businesses across a wide range of industries. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series E, valuation $2B as of 2021) - **Headquarters**: Boston, Massachusetts, USA - **Founded**: 2011 - **Founders**: Max Lobovsky, Natan Linder, David Cranor (MIT graduate students) ## Core Business - **Primary industries**: 3D printing hardware, software, and materials; additive manufacturing - **Target customers**: B2B — from small businesses and entrepreneurs to large enterprises in medical, automotive, aerospace, footwear, consumer goods, and education - **Mission/purpose**: “Enable anyone to make anything” – expanding access to digital fabrication through affordable, professional 3D printing ## Products & Services - **SLA 3D Printers (Form 3, Form 3L, Form 4)**: Desktop stereolithography printers that deliver industrial part quality, precision, and repeatability. - **SLS 3D Printers (Fuse 1, Fuse 1+)**: Selective laser sintering printers for functional, end-use nylon parts. - **Proprietary Materials**: Over 45 formulations including standard resins, engineering resins, dental materials, and jewelry casting resins. - **PreForm Software**: Free slicing and print preparation software optimized for Formlabs printers. - **Fleet Management Software**: Cloud-based platform for managing multiple printers, tracking usage, and automating workflows. ## Market Standing - **Valuation**: $2B (reported during the $150M Series E round in 2021) - **Key Metric**: Total funding of over $250M across rounds (Series A–E); 130,000+ printers sold and 300M+ parts printed globally - **Notable Investors/Partners**: New Enterprise Associates (NEA), DFJ, Tyche Partners, and other leading venture firms; customers include “global leaders” in medical, automotive, aerospace, and footwear - **Growth Signals**: Headcount of 750+ employees (up from ~550 in recent years); 161 active job postings as of mid-2026, with +631.8% year-over-year growth in postings; expansion into 8 global offices across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific; new manufacturing facility in Millbury, OH ## Competitive Advantages - **Vertical integration**: In-house design of hardware, software, and materials ensures a tightly optimized user experience and rapid iteration - **Proprietary ecosystem**: 45+ materials that work exclusively with Formlabs printers, creating a strong lock-in and consistent quality - **Accessibility + quality**: First to bring SLA and SLS to the professional desktop market at a fraction of the cost of industrial systems - **Scale and brand trust**: Over 130,000 printers in the field, used in 10+ industries, giving Formlabs the largest installed base of any professional desktop 3D printing company ## Strategic Focus - **Global expansion**: Deepening presence in Asia (Shenzhen, Tokyo, Singapore) and Europe (Berlin, Budapest) - **Manufacturing scale**: Building out production capacity in Millbury, Ohio to meet growing demand - **New market segments**: Developing specialized materials and application-specific printers for dental, jewelry, and mass-customization use cases - **Software and services**: Enhancing fleet management and workflow automation to move “from prototyping to production” ## Why Work Here - **Culture**: Employees describe a culture of “curiosity, autonomy, and results” with a collaborative, hands-on environment.
