Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society. Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all. ========================================================================= ## TEAM Toyota is redefining what it means to move. We're challenging the current state of mobility by enhancing the movement of people, goods, information and energy. Centered around three core concepts - A Living Laboratory™, Human-Centered, and Ever Evolving City™ - Woven City serves as a test course for mobility to fulfill our purpose of well-being for all. We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the future of mobility to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city. You will join a team responsible for driving the business development and commercialization of new EV and energy services that connect electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and energy management. Working closely with the business lead and product lead, you will play a central role in providing technical support for business development and sales activities. You will translate customers’ business challenges and technical requirements—including EV chargers, V2X (V2H/V2B/V2G), photovoltaic (PV) systems, and energy management system (EMS) integration—into optimal solution proposals. You will collaborate closely with Business Development, Sales, installation contractors, EPC partners, equipment manufacturers, and electric utilities to assess technical feasibility, support customer proposals, and facilitate smooth project implementation. You will also contribute to defining requirements for and developing digital tools that enable partners—including installation contractors, EPCs, and sales agents—to efficiently conduct site surveys, design electrical systems, and prepare customer proposals. Working alongside software engineers and product managers, you will translate field knowledge—including installation and proposal workflows, electrical system design rules, regulatory requirements, and grid-interconnection requirements—into scalable solutions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both customer-facing technical sales and product development, while leveraging Toyota’s mobility assets and Woven City’s Living Laboratory™ environment to scale EV and energy businesses. For more information about Woven City, please visit: https://www.woven-city.global/ WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for a Solution Engineer or Technical Sales professional with expertise in electrical infrastructure and energy systems who can lead the technical aspects of customer proposals while bringing a product-oriented mindset to scaling our partners’ installation and sales activities. The ideal candidate will be able to translate complex customer requirements involving EV charging, V2X, PV, and EMS into technically feasible solutions. You should understand the practical considerations involved in site surveys, electrical capacity sizing, single-line diagrams, coordination with electric utilities, and compliance with fire safety and electrical regulations. You will also be expected to coordinate technical matters effectively with customers, installation contractors, and sales partners. We also welcome candidates who can structure and analyze the challenges faced by installation contractors, EPCs, sales agents, and other partners in areas such as site surveys, installation design, cost estimation, and customer proposals—and translate those challenges into business and functional requirements for commercially available tools that improve operational efficiency. We are seeking someone who is motivated to collaborate with software engineers and transform field expertise into scalable products. ## RESPONSIBILITIES - Collaborate with Business Development and Sales teams, as well as partners such as auto-leasing companies and automotive dealers, to develop sales strategies and go-to-market initiatives for solutions integrating EV chargers, V2X technologies (V2H/V2B/V2G), photovoltaic (PV) systems, and energy management systems (EMS). Lead customer proposals, technical presentations, and sales engagement support - Assess power-receiving equipment, site conditions, electrical capacity, installation constraints, applicable regulations, and grid-interconnection requirements through customer interviews, reviews of information and drawings provided by customers, and site visits when necessary. Conduct implementation feasibility assessments, lead technical evaluations, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders - Provide partners with technical proposals, product demonstrations, onboarding, training, and technical escalation support for the company’s tools and solutions - Define business requirements, functional requirements, decision logic, and standardized workflows for commercially available digital tools and solutions, enabling partners to perform these activities efficiently and consistently - Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and designers to drive the development of partner-facing tools, validate technical logic, conduct user testing, improve products, and package them as commercially available solutions - Identify and organize customer and partner needs, technical constraints, and operational challenges uncovered through sales engagements and implementation support, and provide feedback to product and engineering teams to improve existing features and develop new services ## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - At least seven years of professional experience in electrical infrastructure, power receiving and distribution systems, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy, or a related field, in a role such as Technical Sales, Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, Pre-Sales Engineer, or Technical Project Lead - Foundational knowledge of high-voltage and low-voltage power receiving systems, as well as power receiving and transformation equipment - Experience collaborating with installation contractors, EPCs, equipment manufacturers, electric utilities, or sales partners to develop customer proposals, conduct implementation feasibility assessments, and lead technical coordination - Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with the ability to structure workflows and challenges related to on-site installation, site surveys, system design, cost estimation, and customer proposals, and translate them into functional and business requirements for software engineers and product teams - Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and conversational-level English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders ## NICE TO HAVES - Hands-on experience developing technical proposals or supporting the implementation of EV fast chargers (CHAdeMO/CCS), V2H/V2B/V2G charging and discharging systems, photovoltaic (PV) systems, or energy management systems (EMS) - Experience with requirements definition, user testing, collaboration with development teams, or implementation support for B2B SaaS products, site-survey applications, cost-estimation tools, drawing or configuration tools, or workflow automation tools for the construction, electrical infrastructure, or energy industries - Foundational knowledge of energy-management protocols and smart charging, including OCPP, Modbus, ECHONET Lite, OpenADR, and EMS-based peak-cutting and peak-shifting controls - Experience in sales or sales planning for auto-leasing services, or an understanding of the commercial channels and operations of automotive sales partners - Experience standardizing or developing technical proposal kits, sales playbooks, site-survey guidelines, training materials, or similar resources for sales teams and sales or installation partners - Experience collaborating with or developing proposals for commercial fleet operators, logistics companies, real estate developers, mobility service providers, EV charging service providers, aggregators, electric utilities, or similar organizations - Foundational knowledge of utility grid-interconnection and power-service consultation processes, as well as applicable regulations and standards, including Japan’s Electricity Business Act, technical standards for electrical installations, the Fire Service Act, and local fire-prevention ordinances - Experience conducting or supporting site surveys, verifying installation conditions, defining installation requirements, or reviewing these activities for electrical or energy infrastructure projects - Relevant professional qualifications, such as First-, Second-, or Third-Class Chief Electrical Engineer; First- or Second-Class Electrical Construction Management Engineer; or Electrician ========================================================================= Important Points ・All interviews will be arranged via Google Meet, unless otherwise stated. ・The same job descriptions are available in both English and Japanese; therefore, we kindly ask that you apply to only one version. ・We kindly request that you submit your resume in English, if possible.
