Backed by Lux Capital and the founders of Anduril, the leading autonomous defense company, Traysar is reclaiming Western deterrence by developing and deploying technologies for the fifth domain of warfare: the underground. Job Summary Traysar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced multi-skilled technician to join our U.S. operations team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can weld a fixture, machine a part, troubleshoot mechanical equipment, support prototype builds, and then operate a telehandler or excavator to complete the mission. The machines you help build, maintain, and operate will be used to support the development of advanced subterranean systems for defense applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-moving hardware environment where designs evolve quickly, documentation may be limited, and the team builds and tests equipment in both shop and field conditions. This role is based on the technician requirements provided in the uploaded job description. ## RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform structural welding and fabrication using FCAW (flux-core), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) on steel and other common alloys. - Machine simple to moderately complex components using manual mills and lathes, including machine setup, fixturing, and producing accurate parts from drawings, sketches, or verbal direction. - Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, telehandlers, excavators, and other machinery required for prototype testing and field operations. - Perform hands-on mechanical work, including equipment assembly and disassembly, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and component replacement. - Support prototype builds, machine modifications, equipment staging, field testing, and test-site preparation. - Read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication sketches, work instructions, and basic technical documentation. - Inspect completed work to verify dimensions, fit, weld quality, functionality, and readiness for testing. - Identify mechanical or fabrication issues during builds and work directly with engineers to develop practical solutions. - Maintain shop tools, fabrication equipment, vehicles, and heavy machinery in safe operating condition. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in both shop and outdoor field settings. - Learn new equipment, fabrication processes, and operating procedures quickly as Traysar’s systems continue to evolve. ## BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalency certificate. - Proven hands-on experience with FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes. - Demonstrated ability to machine parts using manual mills and lathes. - Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, excavators, or comparable heavy equipment. - Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining, troubleshooting, assembling, and repairing machinery. - Ability to work from mechanical drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, and limited documentation. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and execute with minimal supervision. - Strong commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and maintaining an organized workspace. ## PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Experience working with hydraulic systems, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, pumps, valves, and hydraulic troubleshooting. - Experience with horizontal directional drilling equipment or drilling operations. - Background in defense, oil and gas, construction, tunneling, mining, heavy equipment, agriculture, or another industrial environment. - Experience supporting prototype development, research and development testing, or low-volume machine builds. - Familiarity with field modifications, machine commissioning, and troubleshooting equipment under operating loads. - Ability to fabricate and machine components while working from incomplete or evolving designs. - Relevant welding, machining, forklift, telehandler, excavator, or heavy-equipment certifications. - Experience working directly with engineers to translate designs into functional hardware. ## ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance. - Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and work around heavy machinery. - Ability to work in both indoor shop environments and outdoor field conditions. - Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible shifts when required to support prototype builds and field tests. - Reliable attendance and the ability to report to Traysar’s facilities and test locations in the Bastrop, Texas area. - Willingness to follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. This position is intended for someone who is genuinely multi-skilled - the person who can weld a fixture, machine a replacement part, turn wrenches to keep equipment operating, and then jump onto an excavator or telehandler to get the job done. If there is a fit, we will schedule an initial interview followed by a technical and practical interview focused on your previous work, fabrication abilities, mechanical experience, and heavy-equipment background. Candidates who pass these interviews will proceed to a final on-site interview and practical skills assessment. ## About Traysar ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Traysar engineers autonomous underground systems for strike and defense, aiming to secure U.S. military dominance in the subterranean domain. - **Entity Type**: Private (Seed VC) - **Headquarters**: Austin, Texas, United States - **Founded**: 2025 - **Founders**: Yadin Soffer (CEO), Asher Katz, Gilad Adin ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Defense technology, autonomous systems, subterranean warfare, military robotics - **Target customers**: U.S. Department of Defense, allied military forces, government and defense-sector customers - **Mission or purpose statement**: To transform the Earth’s crust into a three-dimensional maneuver space, exposing subterranean threats and equipping the armies of the free world to fight in the underground domain. ## Products & Services - **Autonomous Tunnel Breaching & Tactical Exploration Platform**: An excavator-class autonomous platform that rapidly navigates, maps, and clears contested underground networks. - **High-Speed Rapid-Burrowing Autonomous Platform**: Creates precision subterranean access points and delivers critical payloads beneath the surface. - **Subterra Systems for Strike & Defense**: Full-spectrum capabilities including autonomy, persistent communications, mapping & localization, underground intelligence, distributed infrastructure, and geological intelligence. ## Market Standing - **Valuation/Market Cap**: Not publicly available (private company) - **Key Metric**: Total Funding — $25M (Seed round, raised as of June 2026) - **Notable Investors/Partners**: Led by Silent Ventures; joined by Lux Capital, Ora Global, NeverLift VC, Mana, Impatient Ventures, New Vista Capital, Entree Capital, and strategic angel investors including Steve Blank, and founders from Anduril and Erebor among others. - **Growth Signals**: Emerged from stealth at the 2026 Reindustrialize Summit; founded in 2025 and already raised a $25M seed round; engineering team includes early engineers from SpaceX and The Boring Company. ## Competitive Advantages - **First-mover in a new domain**: Traysar is positioning itself as the world’s first "subterra defense tech company," addressing a massive capability gap in subterranean warfare that the global defense industry has largely ignored. - **Unique technology stack**: Combines military boring, autonomous navigation in GPS-denied environments, and real-time underground mapping — capabilities that are extremely difficult to replicate. - **Strong founder pedigree**: Co-founders and early engineers come from SpaceX, The Boring Company, Anduril, and other elite defense/engineering organizations. - **Clear strategic relevance**: Addresses a documented threat — the U.S. Army estimates more than 10,000 known military facilities are hidden underground worldwide. ## Strategic Focus - **Current priorities**: Developing and fielding autonomous platforms for subterranean maneuver and infrastructure survivability; building a complete suite of Subterra systems for strike, defense, protection, and denial operations. - **Direction for growth**: Expanding from seed stage to operational deployment with the U.S. military and allied forces; hardening critical infrastructure and preserving logistical continuity under attack. ## Why Work Here - **Mission-driven work**: The company describes itself as working on "the 21st century’s most important problem" — securing military dominance in a new domain. - **Elite engineering culture**: The team includes early engineers from SpaceX and The Boring Company, suggesting a high-caliber, fast-paced, and technically challenging environment. - **Early-stage impact**: As a seed-stage company founded in 2025, employees have the opportunity to shape the technology and culture from the ground up. - **Location**: Headquartered in Austin, Texas, a growing tech and defense hub. - **Notable perks**: Not explicitly stated, but the culture emphasizes working with "the best engineers" on a critical national security mission.
