Schizophrenia. Schizoaffective disorder. Bipolar I. Treatment-resistant depression. These are the conditions the rest of healthcare has systematically failed to build for. What makes this problem different from most of healthcare is that the tools to solve it do not exist. The clinical protocols, the measurement science, the precision medicine, the technology to deliver coordinated longitudinal outpatient care for this population. None of it has been built. This is a frontier problem, and it requires frontier science and care delivery to solve. We are developing all of it. The care, the science, the technology. ## Who We Are Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation that delivers specialty outpatient care for people living with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I disorder, and treatment-resistant depression. We design and operate high-acuity, in-person clinics across the United States. Our model integrates psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community health workers under one roof to deliver coordinated, longitudinal care for a population that has historically been fragmented across systems. Leading health systems collaborate with Amae to bring this model to their communities, including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit Health. ## Why We Are Different - Integrated care, not a referral network. Psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, dietitians, and community health workers work side-by-side and share responsibility for the same patients. - Practice at the top of your license. Manageable caseloads, meaningful clinical depth, and purpose-built tools designed for this population. - Continuous learning. Through our collaboration with Mass General Brigham, clinicians receive ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship in evidence-based SMI care. - Advancing the field. Our clinicians contribute to new outcomes frameworks and research shaping the future of severe mental illness care. - A model built for sustainability. Team-based care, thoughtful caseloads, and strong infrastructure make this work meaningful—and sustainable over time. The Role: We are hiring a Part-Time Virtual Mental Health Therapist (Fully Licensed or Associate-level) to support our members across California. In this fully virtual role, you'll deliver personalized, compassionate, high-quality group therapy to individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI), working as part of an interdisciplinary care team. The schedule for this role is three days a week, mornings and evenings, plus additional time for documentation and administrative work. The Opportunity: You'll lead virtual group therapy for a panel of complex SMI patients across California, delivering evidence-based, holistic, wrap-around care. You'll work side-by-side with fellow therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, dietitians, and community health workers who share responsibility for the same patients, and you'll have access to ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship in evidence-based SMI care through Amae's academic medical center partnerships. What You'll Do: - Lead virtual group therapy. Facilitate engaging, clinically effective virtual groups for adults living with SMI, creating an environment that supports participation, connection, skill-building, and recovery. - Provide individual therapy. Deliver individual psychotherapy when indicated as part of a member’s overall treatment plan. - Deliver evidence-based care. Integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and other clinically appropriate interventions based on member needs. - Support members over time. Build therapeutic relationships and provide consistent support as members work toward recovery and functional goals. - Collaborate across disciplines. Partner closely with psychiatry, primary care, nutrition, community health workers, and other members of the care team to ensure treatment is coordinated and cohesive. - Practice whole-person care. Consider the social, behavioral, and environmental factors affecting each member’s health and partner with the broader care team to address barriers to treatment and recovery. - Maintain excellent clinical documentation. Complete timely, accurate documentation and uphold privacy, confidentiality, and clinical quality standards. - Contribute to clinical excellence. Participate in case consultation, interdisciplinary discussions, program development, and continuous improvement efforts across Amae’s clinical model. About You: You're an engaging, personable, high-energy clinician who knows how to hold a group's attention and build genuine connection in a virtual setting. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and build real relationships with other medical professionals. You have experience working with adults with severe mental illness and comfort with evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, or MI. You're highly organized, technologically savvy, and able to work autonomously, with a thorough understanding of confidentiality and documentation standards. You navigate hard situations with professionalism, and you keep the member at the center of every decision. What You'll Have: - Required: Experience leading virtual group therapy sessions: comfortable and confident managing group dynamics, well-versed integrating multiple evidence-based modalities and interventions (CBT, DBT, MI, etc) - Required: 1 year of experience working with adult patients with severe mental illness (SMI) - Available weekday mornings and evenings (Pacific Time) to meet client needs - Active license or registration to practice as a therapist in California (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, AMFT, ACSW, or APCC), with active NPI and Medicaid/Medicare enrollment. Both fully licensed and associate-level therapists are encouraged to apply - Committed to improving access to high-quality mental health services for the California SMI community - Ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism - Thorough understanding of confidentiality and appropriate documentation standard. - Technologically savvy, comfortable using AI-based tools, and ability to learn and navigate new tools - Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously - Strong listening skills and excellent verbal communication ## Compensation & Benefits Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Hourly base pay for this role is: - Associate-Level Therapist: $48–55/hour - Licensed Therapist: $58–68/hour Pay will be adjusted to market, licensure, and experience. Benefit packages (comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, parental leave, programs built around well-being) will be available if the part-time schedule is 24+ hours/week. We'll share specifics during the interview process. If you want to practice at the top of your license, learn from the best in academic medicine, contribute to research that is defining a new field, and do it all inside a team that was actually built for this work, we'd like to talk. ## What We Value - We center care in all we do. Empathy is not a brand value. It’s how we make clinical decisions, build products, and treat each other. - We challenge convention. The existing system is the problem. We question it, we test alternatives, and we move with urgency when something works. - We take the work seriously, not ourselves. High standards and humanity are not in tension. We hold a hard bar for quality while leaving room for humor and levity. - Your job isn’t done until the job is done. We close gaps, we follow through, and we don’t hide behind titles or org charts. - We win together and fail together. We own outcomes as a team. We learn fast. We don’t do blame. - We hustle with humility. Speed matters. So does integrity. We assume best intent and stay grounded in the mission. ## About Amae Health ## Company Overview - **One-liner**: Amae Health is a Public Benefit Corporation that delivers specialty, in-person outpatient care for people living with severe mental illness (SMI), integrating psychiatry, therapy, primary care, and peer support under one roof. - **Entity Type**: Private (Series B) - **Headquarters**: Los Angeles, California, USA (with a secondary office in San Francisco, CA) - **Founded**: 2022 - **Founders**: Sonia Garcia (Co-Founder & CEO) and Stas Sokolin (Co-Founder & Chief Growth Officer) ## Core Business - **Primary industry/industries**: Healthcare — Specialty Mental Health & Psychiatric Care - **Target customers**: B2C — Adults (18+) living with severe mental illness (SMI), including conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and treatment-resistant depression. - **Mission or purpose statement**: To establish a center of excellence for SMI, using advanced technology and data-driven insights to transform how severe mental illness is diagnosed, treated, and understood.
