Introduction

A brief memo

I previously worked at AngelList & Wellfound, back when it was all under a single company (which also included Product Hunt), and since then, I really missed having a central place to catch up on tech companies, trends & startups organized in one place.

Everything nowadays feels clunky, aggressively pay-walled, fragmented and built without agents & LLMs in mind.

So I built a little discovery engine for myself that curates & indexes job listings, company profiles, tech news, content (podcasts & newsletters), product launches, and soon investments and fund-related updates, including a handful of useful tools I'll be launching alongside it.

It's called Feeny (feeny.ai), yes, like Mr. Feeny :)

While the v1 of Feeny looks like a feed aggregator on the surface, its underlying architecture is purpose-built from the ground up to power some really fun things coming soon.

Why a discovery engine first

Most AI tools today start with an empty screen and a text box. Most GTM tools today start with a spreadsheet-like table of contacts waiting to be enriched.

We think there's a more first-principles way to alleviate the cold-start.

Everything interesting downstream really depends on one thing: having a clean, deeply-enriched, searchable map of the startup ecosystem that's built for curious individuals and agents.

That includes jobs, companies, news, podcasts, newsletters, product launches, funding, and people.

Many products will often bolt "AI" onto a thin layer of data. This results in the ChatGPT-like UI that every app uses. Feeny takes the opposite approach. Build and curate the corpus first, enrich it relentlessly, editorialize it, and make it efficient enough to feel instant and accessible in any form.

For example, a featured company profile on Feeny is more than a logo & a blurb. It's dozens of signals fused into something you'd actually want to read that is updated regularly. A job search isn't just a keyword match, it's a relevance-ranked index that returns the right roles before you finish typing and pushes them to you directly.

Once we get that foundation right, everything else becomes possible. And then ultimately, Feeny can grow to become the GOAT of startup advisors, your very own Paul Graham.

A few cool things Feeny can do today

Today, we're focused on jobs and companies. Once this feels world-class, we'll focus our efforts on improving the discovery engines for the groundwork we've built for content, products, news & funds.

• Chat with Feeny about anything in the index, like jobs, company culture, tech stacks, recent news, and more. You can even ask him to tailor your resume for you or recommend jobs.
• Personalized matching engine using your profile, bookmarks and preferences to show you the most relevant job listings first. This will soon power dynamic newsletters that adapt to your interests and surface relevant news, products, content and introductions (more on this below).
• Search and filter through 200k+ curated jobs. Feeny has the fastest relevant-search index of job listings compared to most other sites, with plans to make it even faster and more accurate.
• One-click cover letters & tailored resumes for any job listing, with scoring & reviews built-in.
• Multiple profiles you can easily switch between for your public one — unlike LinkedIn, which only allows you to have one.
• Deeply enriched company profiles that pull from dozens of signals and are editorially reviewed, with many more profiles being added.

What's coming next

The v1 architecture of Feeny's discovery engine and index sets us up for much more unique and powerful experiences to build in the future.

Feeny Agents

Imagine being able to talk to anyone at any company, without permission. Feeny will introduce an agent marketplace that allows anyone to take "persona context" (recruiter, investor, tech lead, design manager, sales lead, and so on) and combine it with any "company context" (Ramp, Kalshi, Replit, Coinbase, …) to instantly create a fleet of agents that are deeply rooted in relevant understanding, all powered with expert-knowledge from curated content and news.

These are the kinds of agents a general-purpose LLM would never be able to replicate with the same level of accuracy.

For example, an SEO Specialist at a consumer travel company like Airbnb would take a much different approach to building organic traffic than an SEO Specialist at a fintech b2b company like Ramp. If you were interviewing or collaborating with either, you might ask entirely different questions and approach the problem from a different perspective.

In addition, we will equip the SEO Specialist @ Ramp agent with the right tools and knowledge to understand the unique challenges and opportunities of each company, and make this expertise available to anyone who needs it.

Feeny GTM

Imagine being able to talk to anyone at any company, with permission. Feeny will become a go-to source to find contact info for founders, hiring managers, and team members at any company so you can easily reach out to them.

Up until now, most GTM engines have been scoped for outbound b2b sales & recruiting pipelines, but this same level of access and tooling is largely missing for founders, builders & job-seekers who maybe looking for investors, users or hiring managers respectively.

Feeny Funds

Like the early days of AngelList. Find detailed information about recent fundraises, venture funds, and key contacts without aggressive paywalls. We'll even provide some super useful tools to help you pitch your ideas and projects.

Feeny CLI, SMS & Slack

Bring Feeny with you wherever you go. You will be able to chat with Feeny directly via chat interfaces. Job hunt via SMS, research companies via Claude Code, or get updates on trending topics and news via Slack.

Feeny Intros

All clicks lead to introductions. Everything we are building all leads toward more human-to-human connections. Most companies charge a hefty fee for introductions or matching. For example, a talent agency might charge up to 10-30% of the candidate's salary for each introduction that leads to a hire.

A big "known secret" that explains why many good products don't seem to exist for non-technical job-seekers, is that contingency based pricing is typically biased towards higher-paying jobs, which are often technical roles like software engineers. This leaves many non-technical job-seekers without access to good tooling and support.

Our long-term goal is to eliminate this contigency model completely, by bringing in agents to do the sourcing & matching, so humans can handle the conversations.

In turn, this will also help us offset the cost and drive the burden down for job-seekers so we can offer more help search & placement.

Feeny Tools

Continuing to be helpful in a pinch. While we focus on larger features, we will also continue to expand our suite of tools to help with a variety of goals. All of which will have both a dedicated tool interface and be accessible via agents.

Worth knowing

It would be good to briefly mention that Feeny currently has:

• Zero paid advertising or sponsorships
• Zero third-party tracking scripts
• Zero marketing emails
• Zero paid influencer campaigns

If you asked us how many users are on the site right now, we wouldn't be able to tell you.

This allows us to focus on building a product that preserves privacy, and where growth is driven by community & customer feedback, not advertisers.

Why we're building it

Truthfully, I'm building a lot of it for myself, as someone who loves startups and trends, high information density, ruthless efficiency, obsessive levels of curiosity and also hates the current way things are.

But I hope you find it useful as well.
