In this role, you will:

  • Conceptualize, design (2D and 3D), and lead development/release of vehicle body components/assemblies to meet cost, weight, performance requirements
  • Develop short and long term schedule/plans for component development, release, delivery, and validation
  • Define/negotiate requirements and specifications for body systems to achieve best in class performance in structural, NVH, and crash performance; including DFMEAs, DVP’s and PVP’s, APQP
  • Support validation testing for component/vehicle
  • Support material and manufacturing process decisions both internally and externally
  • Work cross functionally and collaborate with peers, styling studio, packaging, CAE/attribute/test teams, management, manufacturing, suppliers
  • Develop processes, procedures and best practices for Body design and development

Qualifications

  • B.S. in mechanical engineering equivalent or higher
  • 4+ years experience in automotive body system design/engineering (OEM/supplier, university SAE team, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge/experience in vehicle engineering, automotive body systems design and engineering fundamentals, body materials and manufacturing processes, and component delivery
  • Experience with the development of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP’s and PVP’s, APQP and other technical and quality assurance processes
  • Experience in engineering best practices including design for six sigma (DFSS)
  • Ability to implement GD&T and dimensional engineering principles in design
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5 or V6 CAD software
  • Strong communication/collaboration skills with peers, suppliers, manufacturing, management

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience at automotive OEM
  • Knowledge of automotive development/release process
  • Polarion, Jira, and Confluence experience.
