Job description

Business Development Director | APAC

The Business Development Director will lead the next phase of growth: diversifying the portfolio, opening new verticals, and building a repeatable go-to-market motion for the region.

What we want to see

  • A proven track record in a senior business development or sales leadership role, ideally having built and led a team before.
  • Experience running complex, enterprise-level sales cycles and managing a complex, cross-border business environment.
  • Local market knowledge of APAC (China and broader Asia-Pacific)
  • A hands-on operator who is willing to lead from the front on individual deals while also building and executing a regional strategy.
  • Comfortable working with data: able to read portfolio concentration, take-rate, and activation metrics and turn them into a commercial plan.
  • Results-focused and highly motivated, thriving in a high-growth, fast-changing company; able to lead the way and improve the business holistically.

Responsibilities

  • Grow revenue through direct sales, finding and closing new brands across APAC.
  • Design and execute an effective go-to-market strategy to enable the organization to achieve its goals, with a clear plan to reduce concentration risk in any single account, vertical, or country.
  • Prioritize and win new business in SaaS, AI, Streaming and Vedio Games verticals, alongside the existing online retail base.
  • Expand geographic reach, building pipeline within the approved ICP in those high growth regions such as Latam, Africa, Middle East, South East Aisa, India…wherever EBANX already has infrastructure and operations.
  • Build and own a structured activation playbook for newly signed merchants, working with internal teams to compress time-to-live.
  • Achieve regional growth targets, including GP budgets and new activation targets.
  • Protect pricing and take-rate discipline in negotiations, balancing volume growth with margin health.
  • Upgrade the sales function by hiring and developing experts across key functions, increasing both the geographic and vertical spread of revenue.
  • Represent EBANX and the APAC growth story to prospective merchants, partners, and internally to leadership.

Why work at EBANX

  • Culture: Driven by five core values – Big Dreams, Knowledge, Persistence, Results Orientation, and Multiculturality. Described as “out of the ordinary,” with a strong emphasis on ownership, innovation, and challenging the impossible.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Active programs for racial equity, female leadership (Empower Her campaign), LGBTQIA+ pride and trans employability, and inclusion of people with disabilities (sign language interpretation, assistive technology, accessible environment).
  • Benefits (Brazil-based): Health and dental plan (SulAmérica), Wellhub gym access, meal and transportation vouchers, childcare assistance, extended caregiver leave, birthday day off, flexible hours, no dress code, free snacks, pet-friendly office, language classes (English, Spanish, Portuguese), monthly financial support for undergraduate/postgraduate/MBA courses, and a budget for short courses and workshops.
  • Technology Stack: PHP, Elixir, Ruby on Rails, Python, JavaScript, Java; databases include MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon DynamoDB; infrastructure uses Docker, ElasticSearch, AWS (Lambda, RDS, Aurora, SQS, SNS, S3, Beanstalk, ECS); frameworks include Spring Framework, Quarkus, Hibernate, Liquibase.
  • Engineering Culture: 200+ tech-focused ebankers enabling 30+ deployments daily; meetups and internal knowledge-sharing (Code Your Way program); strong emphasis on TDD, SonarCloud, and continuous improvement.
  • Work Policy: Mix of on-site (Curitiba, São Paulo, Mexico City, Mumbai, Shanghai), hybrid (Singapore), and remote (Argentina, Peru, South Cone, UK, USA) roles depending on the position.
