Role details
Neura Robotics at a glance
German cognitive-robotics company building humanoid and collaborative robots that see, hear, feel, and learn to work alongside people.
NEURA Robotics designs cognitive robots (humanoids, collaborative arms, and mobile bases) plus the AI and platform that run them, all built in-house. Its flagship 4NE1 humanoid targets industrial workflows and everyday assistance, and the Neuraverse platform links deployed robots into a shared learning network.

Summary
Lead the design and development of cloud architecture for the NEURAGym Physical AI training platform. Responsibilities include setting technical direction, designing scalable AWS infrastructure, and providing technical leadership to software engineers.
Job description
YOUR MISSION & CHALLENGES
- You lead the design and development of our cloud architecture for the NEURAGym Physical AI training platform - the system that turns real-world robot interactions into trained AI models.
- You take ownership of the overall technical direction: from domain modelling and service design through to infrastructure, operations, and long-term platform evolution.
- You work closely with and provide technical leadership to the Software Engineers on the team.
- You set the architectural standards, make the hard design calls, and ensure the platform is scalable, maintainable, and aligned with where the product is heading.
- Owning the end-to-end cloud architecture of the NEURAGym platform — from data ingestion at the Gym edge through processing pipelines to model training and deployment.
- Designing and evolving domain-driven, self-contained services on AWS, with a strong bias towards serverless and managed services.
- Leading architecture decisions across service boundaries: API design, event-driven data flows, storage strategies, and cross-service consistency models.
- Setting and enforcing standards for Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, and security across the team.
- Translating product and AI research requirements into concrete, implementable architectural designs, working with product managers, ML engineers, and robotics teams.
- Identifying and managing technical debt proactively; keeping the platform evolvable as requirements grow rapidly.
- Mentoring Software Engineers and acting as the technical anchor point for the Physical AI Platform Engineering group.
WHAT WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO
- 8+ years of experience designing and operating modern cloud systems, with at least 3 years in a cloud architect or principal engineer role.
- Deep expertise in AWS, with strong hands-on experience in serverless and managed services.
- Proven ability to design systems using domain-driven design (DDD), self-contained systems (SCS), and service-oriented architecture principles.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, data pipeline design, and asynchronous processing patterns at scale.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK preferred, Terraform also valued).
- Strong programming skills, preferably in TypeScript and Python; ability to contribute code, not just diagrams.
- Experience designing data platforms or ML infrastructure is a strong plus, familiarity with MLOps toolchains is valued.
- Track record of technical leadership: setting standards, guiding engineers, and driving architectural alignment across teams.
- Strong English communication skills; ability to present and defend architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. German is a plus.
