Harmattan AI at a glance

France's first defense-tech unicorn, building attritable AI-piloted strike, interception, and ISR drones for allied militaries.

Harmattan AI is a vertically integrated defense prime building autonomous drone systems for allied militaries. It designs the full stack, from airframes and payloads to embedded compute and the autonomy algorithms that let drones sense, decide, and act at the edge without GPS or a network link, coordinated across a swarm by its mission-orchestration layer.

Job description

ABOUT US

Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.

Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Infrastructure & Deployment DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing the software systems that power our manufacturing and production environment. You will architect and maintain the deployment pipelines, infrastructure automation, and fleet management solutions for our internal production assets—including engineering workstations, automated test benches, and IIoT components. Your mission is to ensure that our production line is a high-performance, reproducible, and scalable environment that enables our R&D and manufacturing teams to move at lightning speed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Internal Fleet Management – Design and maintain systems to coordinate software updates and manage life-cycles across a diverse fleet of production workstations and industrial compute nodes.
  • Infrastructure Automation – Develop and maintain automated deployment solutions for test benches and IIoT devices using containerization tools (Docker, Docker Compose, Portainer).
  • Scalable CI/CD for Production – Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI) that support the rapid delivery of automation tools and inspection software to the factory floor.
  • Reproducible Environments – Utilize declarative build systems (e.g., Docker Bake, Ansible) to ensure that every test bench and workstation in the facility is configured identically and can be recovered instantly.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable automation solutions for our internal operations.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • MSc in Software, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a software engineering role with a heavy focus on infrastructure, DevOps, or industrial automation.
  • Expert Python Skills – Proficiency in scripting, automation, and building deployment tooling.
  • Containerization Mastery – Hands-on experience deploying software at scale using Docker and orchestration tools.
  • Fleet & Config Management – Experience with tools like Ansible for workstation configuration or IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT Greengrass) for managing distributed industrial assets.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
