About the Role

Uber Freight is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Collections to lead our North American B2B Collections organization. This leader will be responsible for driving working capital performance through best-in-class collections strategies, reducing delinquency, strengthening payment discipline, and partnering closely with Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Treasury, Legal, and Finance.

The ideal candidate combines operational excellence with commercial acumen, using data, technology, and automation to continuously improve collections performance while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role will lead a high-performing team responsible for managing a large enterprise accounts receivable portfolio across multiple transportation products.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Develop and execute enterprise collections strategies that improve cash flow, reduce past due receivables, and optimize DSO.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Collections Managers, Supervisors, and Analysts through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Own the collections portfolio by establishing measurable KPIs, monitoring performance, and driving accountability across the organization.
  • Partner with Sales, Account Management, Customer Success, and Operations to resolve disputes, improve payment behavior, and strengthen customer payment discipline.
  • Collaborate with Credit, Treasury, Billing, Legal, and Accounting to proactively manage credit risk, customer escalations, bankruptcies, and complex collections matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement across collections processes by leveraging automation, AI, analytics, and workflow optimization.
  • Develop dashboards and executive reporting that provide visibility into DSO, aging, collections effectiveness, dispute trends, and working capital performance.
  • Establish governance around payment terms, collection strategies, customer segmentation, and escalation processes.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that improve cash conversion, reduce manual effort, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to implement collections technology, digital payment capabilities, and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit standards.
  • Build strong relationships with external collection agencies, bankruptcy administrators, legal partners, and credit reporting agencies when appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in B2B Collections, Accounts Receivable, Finance Operations, or Working Capital Management.
  • 5+ years leading large collections organizations and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success improving DSO, reducing delinquency, and driving measurable working capital improvements.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and operational problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across Finance, Sales, Operations, Product, and Technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Experience within transportation, logistics, supply chain, freight brokerage, or SaaS environments.
  • Deep understanding of commercial collections, customer payment behavior, credit risk management, dispute resolution, and bankruptcy processes.
  • Experience leading large-scale finance transformation initiatives, including AI, automation, workflow redesign, and digital collections.
  • Proven success implementing collections technologies, predictive analytics, and reporting platforms.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and commercial stakeholders.
  • Experience working within SOX-controlled environments and partnering with Internal and External Audit.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer relationships with disciplined cash management and working capital objectives.
