Who we are
Sphere Defense is a fully funded technology startup with the mission of providing allied countries with sovereign, effective and seamless autonomous countermeasures to neutralize todays’ and tomorrow’s aerial threats. Sphere Defense was founded by industry veterans with previous successful exits, and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, in the heart of Europe.
About you
You are an experienced and highly-motivated Drone Lab Technician that has worked with prototyping and assembling electronics and electro-mechanical products. Ideally, you have worked closely with design engineers in an organization dealing with robotics and/or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
What you’ll do
- Assemble small series and prototypes of ground, UAS and C-UAS systems
- Ensure assembly and repair activities are executed in a timely manner, with exceptional quality
- Handle 3D printers and maintain them in working order
- Support test campaigns in Belgium and abroad
- Perform incoming inspection for raw materials and sub-assemblies deliveries
- Advise the engineering teams on the assembly and repairability processes
- Keep labs and machines clean and organized
Location: Onsite in Brussels, Belgium, with potential travel to Nivelles, Belgium
Requirements
- Technical high-school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in a comparable role in technical organizations
- Excellent hands-on abilities in the field of electronics, cabling, mechanical assembly
- Experience with soldering, assembling and repairing electronic boards (PCBAs), including fine pitch components (QFNs, BGAs, QFPs)
- Knowledge of and attention to ESD issues and familiarity with common lab tools (DMM, etc.)
- Familiarity with crimping and cabling
- Ability to operate and maintain FDM and resin 3D printers
- Experience with organizing and maintaining an R&D laboratory
- You are a self-starter, able to work in a high-ambiguity environment and willing to take up new challenges
- Good written and spoken English, French or Dutch is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- CAM for lathe and CNCs
- Leadership experience in technical environments
- You have experience and/or are passionate about piloting drones or RC planes
