Summary
Tango Therapeutics is seeking a visionary and strategic oncology leader to serve as Executive Director, Clinical Development. Reporting directly to the President of Research & Development, this highly visible executive will lead the clinical development strategy for an early-stage program.
As a senior clinical and scientific leader, you will partner with Translational Medicine, Biometrics, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Executive Leadership driving cross-functional alignment, prioritization, and operational excellence. You will serve as an external facing ambassador for Tango, representing the company within the scientific and medical communities.
This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise-wide clinical development strategy, build high-performing development capabilities, and play a pivotal role in advancing transformational therapies for patients with cancer.
Your Role:
As Executive Director, Clinical Development, you will provide strategic leadership for the development of TNG456. Working closely with cross-functional leaders, you will together be responsible execution of clinical studies and enable informed portfolio decisions. You will represent Tango within the external oncology community to advance innovative therapies for patients with cancer. You will manage, mentor and develop Medical Directors supporting TNG456.
- Provide strategic leadership for clinical development, including protocol design, regulatory strategy, and cross-functional execution
- Lead, mentor, and develop physicians, fostering a culture of scientific excellence, integrity and collaboration
- Oversee the preparation of key regulatory documents, including INDs, CTAs, protocols, and briefing packages
- Partner with Project Management and cross-functional leaders to drive governance, operational excellence, and program execution
- Guide clinical trial execution through investigator engagement, patient recruitment strategies, and quality oversight
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and external collaborators
- Represent Tango at scientific meetings, advisory boards, and other external engagements
- Support scientific communications, including publications, abstracts, and presentations
What You Bring:
- MD with board certification or eligibility in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology
- 11+ years of oncology clinical development experience in biotech or pharma, spanning early- and late-stage development
- Expertise designing and executing oncology clinical trials involving targeted therapies
- Experience building and leading high-performing clinical development teams
- Deep knowledge of ICH-GCP, FDA, and global regulatory requirements
- Strategic, collaborative leader with excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence across diverse scientific and operational teams
- Resourceful, adaptable, and execution-focused with a passion for advancing innovative cancer therapies
