Job description
About Pelagon
Pelagon is building autonomous maritime interdiction systems for critical security applications. Our work brings together sensing, software, AI and maritime engineering to turn advanced technology into reliable systems in the field.
The role
Help bridge engineering and real-world operations. You will work with customers and the engineering team to prepare deployments, integrate systems, troubleshoot issues and turn field experience into product improvements. This hybrid role combines focused work with hands-on activities at test and deployment sites.
What you will do
- Prepare and support system installation, commissioning, demonstrations and field trials.
- Integrate hardware, software and communications components, and verify end-to-end operation.
- Diagnose issues using logs, measurements and structured testing; coordinate fixes with engineering.
- Translate customer needs into clear technical requirements and actionable product feedback.
- Develop deployment process, test reports, troubleshooting guides and operator documentation.
- Train and support users, explaining technical topics clearly and setting realistic expectations.
- Help improve system reliability, maintainability and ease of deployment.
- Follow site safety procedures and handle customer and technical information with discretion.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience in field engineering, systems integration, technical customer support or a related discipline.
- A practical foundation in electronics, embedded systems, networking or software troubleshooting.
- A structured approach to diagnosing problems across hardware and software.
- Clear communication, strong documentation habits and ownership of follow-through.
- Comfort working with customers and collaborating closely with engineers.
- Willingness to travel and take part in on-site deployments and field trials. Useful experience
- Maritime systems, robotics, sensors, industrial equipment or other demanding field environments.
- Linux, Python or scripting tools for diagnostics and test automation.
- Test planning, commissioning, operator training or technical demonstrations. Location Based in Paris or Marseille, with a hybrid working arrangement. On-site presence and travel will depend on testing, deployment and customer needs.
Why work at Hexa
- Culture: "You'll never build alone" – the studio emphasizes deep collaboration, ambition, humility, and execution. The team is composed of entrepreneurs and expert operators.
- Remote/Hybrid Policy: Hexa is based in Paris. For the Start track, a presence at HQ is important to benefit from resources and mentorship. Sprint is remote-friendly but based in France/Europe for events. Scale is likely remote-friendly with in-person board/partner meetings.
- Perks & Engineering Culture: No software engineers in the core team – each startup's product is built by engineers recruited specifically for that company. This means engineers get to join a funded startup with a built-in support system from day one. The studio provides legal, finance, recruiting, and strategic support so engineers can focus on product.
- Career Path: Two kinds of roles: (1) the core team that builds the machine (partners, product managers, designers, GTM, finance, legal) and (2) founding hires inside the startups coming out of the studio. Either way, you're in "before it exists" – a high-risk, high-reward environment with significant ownership and impact.
