Job description
About Cluely
Cluely is building AI to give you an unfair advantage in every situation.
It acts as a desktop assistant that takes in screen, mic, and audio context to give you information and suggestions that existing model providers cannot, due to a lack of context.
We will win for two reasons:
- Chatbots are not the best interface for multi-modal AI
- We can make anything viral
About the Role
We work six days a week in-person in San Francisco, 10-12 hours a day.
You are expected to live within a block of the office (housing provided).
The entire codebase is strictly typed (no ts-ignore or anys). We use Bun, Elysia elysiajs.com, and strictly typed routes.
You might be a good fit if you are:
- One of the best engineers in the world
- Strong fullstack engineer (React/Electron/Infra experience)
- You should know how to efficiently fetch and cache data in a React application
- You should know how to design and structure database schemas that optimize read and write performance
- You should be comfortable deploying and scaling applications and be able to weigh pros and cons of different infra/devops solutions
- I will sanity check all of the above in an interview with you
- Down to gamble your life into greatness
Compensation:
- Founding engineers get anywhere from $250k-$350k base + 0.25-0.5% equity
- We also offer free food
Why work at Cluely
- Fast-growing startup (24 employees, 1,700% YoY headcount growth) with significant venture backing (a16z, etc.).
- Engineering-heavy culture with a tech stack including TypeScript, React, Swift, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenAI.
- Controversial but high-profile founding story (founders suspended from Columbia over Interview Coder tool) gives the company a “rebellious” brand.
- Roles span marketing, engineering, design, and customer experience; key executives include a CEO/Co-Founder (Roy Lee), COO (Neel Shanmugam), and CTO (Alex Chen).
- Headquarters in New York City; office presence likely (previously San Francisco but moved to NYC).
