Job description

About the Role

This role exists at an early-stage medical AI company building a surgical copilot that helps doctors make better calls in the operating room by pairing a real-time device with a growing AI layer. Success in the first year looks like a library of interface patterns other engineers build on, plus at least one shipped visualization tool that surgical and research teams use daily. It's a strong move for someone who wants outsized ownership early and a direct line to the people building the underlying AI.

What You'll Own

  • Design and ship user facing interfaces across the platform, from device screens used inside the operating room to internal tools for the engineering and research teams.
  • Build visualization tools that turn surgical video, medical imaging, and model output into something a clinician or researcher can act on quickly.
  • Establish reusable components and front end patterns that raise the bar for how the rest of the team builds UI.
  • Connect front end applications to APIs and real time data streams coming off edge devices in the field.
  • Raise the reliability and responsiveness bar on applications handling dense, high stakes data.
  • Contribute to a regulatory grade development process, including documentation and traceability standards expected of medical software.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • 2+ years building front end software applications professionally, through internships, or through significant personal projects.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript with a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Solid grasp of component based architecture, state management, and responsive UI development.
  • Experience integrating front end applications with APIs and backend services.
  • Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong communication skills across technical disciplines, and comfort in a fast moving, evolving environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with real time data, video, or scientific visualization, including WebGL or Three.js.
  • Familiarity with desktop frameworks such as Electron, Tauri, or Qt.
  • Exposure to medical devices, healthcare software, or other regulated software environments.
  • Familiarity with Python or Python based backend systems.

Tools and Stack

  • JavaScript or TypeScript, React or a comparable modern framework, REST APIs, exposure to visualization libraries a plus.

Success Indicators for the First 3–6 Months

Within the first 3 to 6 months, you will be expected to:

  • Ship reusable UI components and establish front end patterns that other engineers build on.
  • Deliver at least one interface for visualizing complex surgical or imaging data, built with real user feedback from the team.
  • Build working fluency across the platform's API and real time data integrations with edge devices.
  • Contribute meaningfully to code reviews and testing practices, and begin supporting regulatory grade documentation and traceability work.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the software, computer vision, machine learning, modeling, and design teammates you collaborate with day to day.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Location: Remote LATAM
  • Working hours: Overlap with U.S. business hours
  • Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 usd annually
  • Equity: Competitive equity package
  • Benefits: Unlimited PTO
