Notable perks: Work directly with artists and music industry; influence the future of fair music royalties; small team with high impact.
Engineering culture: Tech stack includes Songkick, Instagram integrations; mobile app focus. GitHub presence with TypeScript exercise for hiring. Values transparency and user-centric design.

One-liner: Medallion builds a platform for serious music fans to track their listening and gig history, while empowering artists with direct fan relationships and data ownership.
Entity Type: Private (Seed / Series A; total funding $44.2M)
Headquarters: New York City, New York, United States
Founded: 2022
Founders: Matt Jones

Primary industry: Music technology, artist-to-fan platform
Target customers: B2C (music fans) and B2B (artists, labels, rights holders)
Mission/purpose: "Shifting the balance of power for Artists" – building the ultimate platform for artist independence where artists own their fan data and receive fair, transparent royalty payouts.

Medallion App (Free): A mobile app (iOS & Android) that lets users showcase and share listening stats, gig histories, and follow artists. Includes features like First Listens, listening parties, and push notifications for artist communities.
Medallion FM (Artist-Led Music Service): Launched December 2025. A subscription service ($4.99/month) where 85% of revenue goes to musicians and rights holders. Royalties are paid based on user-centric behavior (e.g., if you listen 80% to The National, they get 80% of your subscription fee). No AI, no playlists. Artists retain full access to fan data (email, listening data, show history, social activity).
Artist Insights Dashboard: Provides artists with qualitative and quantitative fan sentiment analysis, raw performance data, and community engagement metrics.

Valuation: Not publicly disclosed
Key Metric: Total funding $44.2M (as of late 2025); annual revenue ~$2M
Notable Investors/Partners: TCG (seed lead), Dragonfly, Lightspeed Venture Partners (Series A co-leads), Metallica (investor in Series A), and over 40 total investors across rounds
Growth Signals:
- Launched Medallion FM in Dec 2025, a novel subscription model
- Monthly web traffic ~41,779 visits (US 59%, Australia 8%, UK 5%)
- Headcount: ~12–19 employees (small, focused team)
- Notable artist partnerships include Greta Van Fleet, Jungle, and others using Medallion for pre-sales and community drops

Artist data ownership: Unlike streaming giants, Medallion gives artists direct access to fan contact info, listening data, and social activity.
User-centric royalty model: Fans see exactly where their subscription money goes; payouts are proportional to actual listening behavior.
No AI, no playlists: Emphasizes human curation and artist autonomy, differentiating from algorithm-driven platforms.
Community features: Listening parties, First Listens, and push notifications create direct artist-to-fan engagement.

Growing the Medallion FM subscription service and expanding artist adoption
Deepening fan engagement features (e.g., AI sentiment analysis for artists, though company states "No AI" in its music service, AI is used for fan sentiment analysis)
Building out the platform as a full direct sales and marketing tool for artists (merch, tickets, music drops)
