Job description
At WHOOP, we’re on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. Our wearable technology monitors vital physiological metrics to offer personalized insights that enhance fitness, health, sleep, and recovery.
As an iOS Engineer I on the Core team, you will build the foundations that power the WHOOP iOS App and develop features that empower members to optimize performance and longevity. You will play a critical role in building and scaling the foundational systems that power the WHOOP member experience for fitness, sleep, strain, recovery, and integrations. You will partner closely with other engineers, product management, design, data science, and performance science to shape and build the polished member-facing experiences for these features.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team and cross-functional partners through feature ideation, planning, and development to iteratively deliver new capabilities.
- Contribute to technical planning by breaking down requirements into clear tasks, identifying risks and edge cases, and delivering iteratively with support from senior engineers.
- Build and maintain native iOS features in Swift, communicating with RESTful backends to deliver reliable, high-quality member experiences.
- Improve app quality through testing, debugging, code reviews, and performance monitoring.
- Document features and technical decisions while learning shared engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated curiosity for building high-quality software and eagerness to learn in a collaborative engineering environment.
- Familiarity with Swift and modern iOS frameworks such as SwiftUI, UIKit, and XCTest.
- Familiarity with mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM.
- Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs, including networking and authentication flows.
- Familiarity with iOS development tools and workflows such as Xcode, Git, Swift Package Manager, and CI.
- Demonstrated ability to write maintainable, well-tested code and clear technical documentation.
- Enthusiasm in leveraging AI tools while maintaining high standards for quality and engineering excellence.
- Bonus: Exposure to backend development or cross-platform mobile development.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$145,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.
In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.
These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
