Role details
Job description
We’re looking for a Lead Content Strategist and Conversational Designer to shape AI-powered and human-centered experiences across digital products. You’ll define how systems communicate by designing intelligent, responsive interactions that feel natural, clear, and useful within an end to end experience.
In this role, you’ll bring expertise in conversational design, crafting dialogue for customer facing chatbots, AI assistants, and IVR systems that build trust and clarity. You’ll extend that thinking across product experiences by guiding UX writing, voice and tone, and scalable content systems.
Ultimately, you’ll help design not just what products say, but how they think, respond, and connect with users.
This role is centered on product and UX content strategy. Experience in social media, marketing, PR, or traditional copywriting is not the focus of the work our clients partner with us to solve.
Quick Facts
- Location: Remote-first (U.S. – East Coast)
- Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
- Travel: Occasional travel for in-person company gatherings in Philadelphia
- Salary Range: $75,000 – $118,000
What You’ll Do
- Lead content design for complex initiatives, owning end-to-end execution across platforms, including UI, chat, voice, and multimodal experiences.
- Drive the content experience across products, including conversational AI interactions, to help users accomplish their goals and resolve intents effectively.
- Craft clear, purposeful conversational experiences while guiding other content designers in applying natural language and conversation design best practices.
- Mentor and coach less experienced content designers to strengthen their skills and elevate the quality and consistency of work across assigned workstreams.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and designers to create cohesive, intuitive user experiences.
- Apply and uphold the organization’s brand voice within AI assistants, developing scalable voice and tone systems, content frameworks, and reusable patterns that create consistency across products.
- Use research, behavioral data, and usability insights to continuously improve user interactions and outcomes.
- Identify and lead opportunities to evolve product language, taxonomy, and information architecture while establishing scalable content workflows, governance models, and systems across teams.
- Champion established workflows, content systems, and design processes, guiding others in their application to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across AI touchpoints.
What You Bring
- Experience shaping content for digital products, AI Powered Experiences, including UX writing, content design, or content strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through craft, mentoring and guiding other content designers while raising the quality and consistency of work across teams.
- Ability to design for both interface-based and conversational experiences, such as chatbots, voice assistants, or similar systems.
- Proven skill in designing conversational flows, including concepts like intent recognition, turn-taking, and fallback strategies.
- A user-centered approach to language. You think about what users need to do and how content helps them succeed.
- Strong foundation in building scalable voice and tone systems and structured content frameworks.
- Clear and collaborative communication style, with the ability to align stakeholders and advocate for content decisions.
- Comfort navigating complex or ambiguous environments and bringing clarity through systems thinking.
Nice-to-Haves
- A background in linguistics, writing, psychology, communication, human-computer interaction, or a related field
