OVERVIEW
This internship aims to introduce the interns to the realm of online services and age-related legal, regulatory and compliance issues these services face. These range from games to messaging apps to social media - interns will be introduced to the key issues these businesses face in relation to kids and teens and how these issues are tackled on a global basis. Interns will find themselves having to apply their legal research skills in a manner completely different from their academic journey thus far and will gain insight on how the tech industry operates on a regional and global basis.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & RESEARCH
- Research and review of existing age-related and privacy-related laws across 190+ countries (with guidance and feedback), with a focus on presenting your research findings in a pragmatic and concise manner, as well as keeping up with new laws / regulations and how they impact online service providers and their users
COMMERCIAL LEGAL
- Drafting, reviewing and understanding how standard corporate and commercial legal documents work and applying your legal knowledge in the corporate/commercial setting
- To assist Legal Counsels with doing compliance assessment reports for clients/online service providers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a LLB (Bachelor of Laws) or LLM (Master of Laws) at a Singapore University
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Interest in technology, privacy law, and digital safety
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Commitment to full-time participation for the program duration
